Gave the stepper a clean on Saturday. The spring bit seems to be a little loose. I did the job around Alans place (PHer Alans) and he said that the one on his Griff was solid and didnt "wobble around" at the end where the deposits are.

Is it knackered?

£86.66 here Stepper Motor. If it's working it's probably OK so I'd save your money and wait until you need it.

Speak to V8 Developments.....lot less than £80. I think they charged me about £40 plus VAT.

Hi all,

Regarding the Stepper Motor, Fernhurst gave me some advice last week on how to check that it's still working. Apparantly if you unscrew it from its housing and touch it to the block to ground it, the moment you turn on the ignition (don't fire it up) it should visualy reset itself back to the base position. Worth a try I suppose.

Also, they advised me to always turn the ignition on for 2-3 secs before starting up so that it can go through this resetting procedure. Anyone else heard of this??

Cheers

I thought the 2-3 sec delay was to let the fuel pump prime - it's one of TVR's little reassuring noises, that and the click from the boot release solenoid

No, my reason is for the fuel pump. However, given what you say about the resetting, it makes sense.

I undone the stepper with my spanner, cleaned it with my rag and tooth brush and replaced and reconnected. What exactly did you do Phil?

I unlocked the car and pulled the bonnet catch for you.
