quoted as anywhere between low fours to high fours. Havent seen a figure in excess of 5.

Slightly optimistic I think.. the 4.0, I have seen quoted in the region of 4.7 to 4.9.

Havent seen a figure in excess of 5....

4.7 - 4.9 = less than 5????????

not really that bothered in 0.2 seconds etc and pub talk but cant see why I am optimistic. I say sub 5 and the figs you quote are sub 5. so why optimistic?

Added to which when my TVR was reading 60 on the speedo it was actually doing 49...

50-70 are the figures that count and TVR's are rather good in that particular department...

Hey.. lighten up shnozz.. I'm not mungo

I only meant Low 4's was a bit optimistic.. and that I don't debate the difference between 4-7 and 4.9 as its pretty irrelevant and only useful down the pub.

I agree low 4's to be optimistic. The times quoted were all "quoted" and not in my experience. If you look in Steve Heaths bible there are a list of timed 0 - 60's from various magazines and these vary around the mark.

I agree pub talk and 0 - 60 is fairly pointless anyway. I get more use out of the fact I can leave the chim in fourth and accelerate from 20 - 100 in no time at all. Torque in these slow cars is fantastic.

My speedo at 60 is spot on with the GPS, only gets a bit out (2 - 3 mph) at 100+. Seems like yours must be one of few Tivs that had an innaccurate speedo.

Your quite right, it is none of my business.

I accept my car is a humble old fashionned slow plastic barge thats as unreliable as Flasher's lung at the moment and gets into corners as poorly as you do women's knickers.

In contrast, your LCR is faster than a speeding bullet and can fit 5 people in and the shopping in the boot.

In fact, anyone want to PX with me?

that dffers from those who I have spoken to. Only ever spoken to one person before who reported it being quite far "out". Although I must say the S wasnt all that accurate but IIRC that was electronically driven..

Nice, my car can't do 20 mph in fourth, it would stall out, minimum is 30-35mph, even from 30 it would take ages till about 55ish when the first stage of boost kicks in, where it would outdrag most rep-mobiles, then at about 65 it would come 'on cam' and rally start shifting till 90 when the second stage of boost comes in and whooooooooosh upto 135mph. It has very long gearing considering where the power starts making a difference (about 4.5k).

different kettle of fish though - 2 litre Turbo. When I first drove Jim's car I thought it was slow. Adjusted my driving style for the car and it wasnt! Tail slide out of damp corners

I fancy one as a second car but dont find the T-bar too suited for tall blokes like me. Is the fixed roof any better on that front without space behind the seats for the roof panels?

Agreed... I'm always amazed at how it can pull from around 900rpm in 5th on a gradient..!

Who's this Mungo chap, just been reading through this thread but it seems impossible for this guy to comment as he sounds like my 10yo nephew 'my dads bigger', 'cos i felt like it' etc etc

As you're posting on PH all day and late into the night you've got no chance of being with a woman...

Mungo is a legend!

In fact he came up in conversation the other weekend when the wife and I popped over to see Big Al and his good lady wife because his anticts with the females are the stuff fokelore is made of...

...I even remember Mrs. Big Al commenting on just what a hunky studmuffin Mungo is "in the flesh".

I agree with Joolz - My Leon Cupra R is far quicker than any TVR I have ever driven on my favourite A roads and closer to the cornering speeds I would achieve in my Caterham than any TVR was! It's not too far off on straight line either to be frank.

this was before I had posted anything other than "an egg"

Quite how you can suggest i started an argument is beyond me.

That wasn't meant to cause an arguement I was merely stating my experience of one type of car over the other as this had been brought into the conversation. You obviously took that as some sort of challenge?

I can see how coming on a chimaera forum and then saying your car is quicker isnt meant to cause an argument. (will you please learn to spell that word). I might pop over to the Lotus forum and tell them my car is faster. Arguement (sic), no, just my experience.

If you can point me to my post that "started" this argument then please do so. if its the one where i get bored of your continued posts about how your cars are always quicker, louder, shinier etc than anything else then you see the throw of a gauntlet in a different way to me.

and no, I dont feel challenged by you Mungo.

I rest my case Shnozz! The quoted post below is the one that started your ARGUMENT...

I never stated that my car was quicker, just that new hot hatches in general are quicker on certain types of road.

You have been the childish one on this matter not me - It's horses for courses, both cars are better at certain things.

You just seem to see it as a challenge to your manhood or something that a 1.8 litre hatch back could give your 4.0 sports car a run for your money? You seem very sensitive on this matter - I suggest you put the handbag away now.

As for being on the Chim forum, I suppose that means if I suddenly went out and bought one this afternoon I would suddenly be welcome here? I read and post on the Chim forum as I have an interest in all fast cars as I post on and read all the forums.

your fiat turbo is faster than a zonda blah blah blah

your big bad wedge was faster than Bluebird and noisier than concorde IIRC. The Caterham could beat sports bikes...

Next local track day, £50 says my bog standard non HC Chimaera will post a better time. Deal?

>> Edited by mungo on Thursday 4th December 13:32

have an interest in fast cars? but the chim isnt that fast is it?

if you feel you have stated your case dont ever apply for a job in law, you would be slaughtered.

Quite frankly I couldnt give a rats a*se about your Seat Leon. Its a 5 door hatchback. Its not a sports car. I wouldnt notice a Leon if it pulled up next to me and the owner wound down the window shouting "its a leon" and held the V5 up to the window. As your fellow owner has put in his profile "a bit boring".

Signing off with Fisherman Shnozz putting his rod away...

This is becoming pretty tedious now chaps, and I think it has reached it's full potential as an entertaining post.

So the Axe is being wielded and I'm closing the post.
