Boot is the best on the back of the petrol tank. Wiring is actually very easy!!. As you will be powering them off rca leads from the headunit the speaker wires from the headunit are not needed. When you remove the headunit to install the rca leads connect the front speaker wires to the rear speaker wires. The wires already in the boot are then connected up to the front speakers. You only have to put new wires from the amp to the rear speakers then. Hope this makes some sense!!, if not e-mail me and I will explain in more detail!!

RCA is right about the amp location......it's pretty much the only place to mount it. When he says on the back of the tank I'm assuming he means ABOVE the fuel tank, between your speakers. In this location it is out of the way of luggage etc. As for problems with wiring, running speaker wire when you run the RCA leads shouldn't take any extra time and the results will be worth the extra effort. The bell wire ALL manufacturers use for speaker cable is CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!

If we're all so "in-love-with-V8s-and-the-noise" why the need for more amps than any reasonable head-unit can produce ?? [I know....each to their own, but I had to say it]
Karl, just a guess, mains plug is for battery charger/conditioner (Accumate/Leven/etc) - I have fitted a "cigar lighter" socket in the boot for my charger/conditioner so that I can swop it between bikes & Chim.

I haven't got a V8 anymore
My sound system was fitted by the factory when the car was built, not an aftermarket upgrade. The previous owner of my car(also a PH member) has a similar one in his T350. I have to say, despite my initial reservations, having an upgraded system means that I can listen to the cd/radio it if I want to - no matter what speed I'm doing.

I need something to listen to on the way to work in order to try and keep up with the traffic reports and try to avoid the jams..... and I like to listen to something when the weather is so crap or, of course, if Mrs Hobbit has a cold, I can't even have the windows open.

The 4x40W is a peak value, IIRC they chuck out about 4x25W RMS.

Depends..................All discussions on "Sound/Music/etc" are very, very, very, subjective despite all the dBs & amps etc that accompany the literature.
I have a Pioneer CD/MP3 unit also with 4X40 & enlarged speakers. Good enough for me to hear all I want at a "so-called" quality level. There again as soon as I mention MP3, "others" will question my sanity in respect of listening to "quality" music. Still, for me the MP3 feature saves a Multi-disc player in the boot - likewise 4X40 and the need for gert-big-amps................all in the "ears" of the beholder (and your pocket), IMVHO. ;-))

Personally and IMVHO, you cannot hear the difference between mp3 and normal cd in a car... especially a tiv
I rest my case - in my boot !!! (which is dry because its in my garage.....!!)

Amp will definately help, even with standard speakers, although if you really want to hear the stereo take a different car

yep... completly agree. IMHO it's not as important (to me anyway) to have perfect music in the tiv due to background noise. I don't listen to mp3s at home on the hi-fi, but for the car, they'll be fine. In the tiv I'm too busy grinning at the V8 soundtrack most of the time to bother with the stereo anyway!
