Could you go and teach the guys a the factory how to do it properly please!
I could but they probably wouldn't like some tubby northern goit telling them their business...

Oh and do you know where I could get a chrome 'grille' to cover my 'rather large' rear speaker? It is about the same size as a dinner plate.
I can post pics - If I really have to
Quite possibly ... roughly whereabouts are you geographically? I don't do much in the way of installs nowadays but I have a friend who is still in the business properly (rather than in a "Halfrauds" way).

I'm t'up North! Think Leeds Bradford Airport and you're not a million miles away.

I don't want to teach anyone to such eggs BUT, linking your speakers together like that will either reduce impedence (ohms) if arranged in parallel.....i.e. amp fries, possibly taking speakers with it, or if arranged in series your amp will make your headunit sound massively powerful. If the Alpine is rated at 2ohms then disregard the above but i'd be suprised.
Kevin
Most half decent manufacturers in-car amps will happily drive a 2ohm load - one of the most suprisingly good sounding systems (for what kit was used) I put together for myself was a Rockford 4600x 4 channel amp driving the four standard line-fit 6x4 spaeakers in the 200SX I had with two channels (so a 2ohm load) and the other two channels bridged into a 12" Rockford "Audiophile" series sub in a small 1.2cuft sealed box. Yes, it went against all the rules of what should sound good but it did sound damn good (albeit ultimately limited in volume at the loud end of the scale) and we used that system as a "demonstrator" for quite a while.

I take your point Phil but with most "mainstream" amp manufacturers, and I include Alpine in that, a notional 2 ohm load (may drop below that in use) MAY cause problems. For an extra few quid why chance it? Your example of the Rockford amp is not really relevant as Rockford's whole construction/marketing is aimed at stupidly low impedances leading to v. large power outputs.

Ahh but the 4600x was their base model 4 channel amp - not in the same series as the low impedance monsters and I think it cost <£250 so hardly expensive - that never skipped a beat.
I used to do the "mad" stuff as well - the Orion 2100HCCA I had in the 200SX at one point (just driving subs) we bench tested at 1280w and 220amps of current draw!
