This has got to be wrong, or it's hanging.

Yeah, I noticed that, but 29,000miles but 'needs tidying'

You could virtually replace the interior and respray it and still have a bargain!

Unless there's no engine

Remember seeing this one advertised on PH's a month or so ago...has been re-listed, must need a little more work than he's letting on...

Hmm, I was gonna ask this 'cause I see 'needs a little tidying' or 'needs a little TLC' in the description of Chims offered by dealers ever more often, mostly accopanied by a picture of a car that still looks a million dollars (that'll be from a distance, then) and a price that's a couple of K less than you'd expect but still representing a lot of money for an older car.

Which raises two questions -

Does the trade description 'needs a little tidying/TLC' indeed mean 'there's the odd scratch and worn carpets, mate, and the interior's been wet at some point so it smells a bit fishy in there' or more like 'outriggers completely shot, could just about be saved without replacing the entire chassis but count on a body-off resto'?

- if the first, why does the dealer choose to offer the car like this instead of doing the prep work and fetching the going rate themselves? (sometimes the advert states they have to clear stock, but hey, doesn't that go for all second hand car dealers? )

Seems to have lost the front grill as well!! But still suspiciously cheap. I'd be weary.

What are the marks in the headlight cowls?
Has it had headlight washers fitted?!

97 is a little early for the face-lift, it may be a hi-bred, I have seen quite a few in between ones.
Normally the front end is post face-lift and rear pre.

Looks like the/a cowls is/are missing to me.

Personally, (not having seen the car of course) if the car needs TLC what kind of last owner does/did it have. I'd rather buy one that's been TLC'd. But this one does look cheap for someone willing to tinker! Nice colour too.

Is it perhaps an HPI Cat C or D car?

The facelift with new grille came in in November 1996; and the newer dash and door openers on the mirrors came in January 1997.

i actually went to see this car as a friend was looking to buy one.
Believe me a little tidying is WAY OFF the mark!!The whole car was shot. How he got it to look that shiney in the pic is beyond me!it looked like it had been sprayed with a can in the garage, the interior was knackered, for two owners there was no history what so ever the light cowels were missing the drivers rear quarter had been very badly repaired it was a mess and actually a bit sad to see.It would need 10k spent on it.

Sounds like the basis of a contendor in teh TVR Challence Race series then.

Strip it out, cover it in sponsors graphics and off you go.

I'd be very surprised if that was a 97 car. the body style swapped over in 96. my 96 car has the later, body, brakes, engine, gearbox, chassis ect and a half and half interior... and i;ve seen others like mine.

It's a real shame to see these cars in a bad way. I hope someone can get this back to A1 condition.

Can't remember exactly when, but the internal door opener changed position, so the cente console changed. Maybe the same time as the gearbox dunno

Even from the photos you can clearly see the overspray on the OSF tyre..... thought I'd spotted it in Roy Orbison Coachworks last year!
