Nice to see more new ppl coming into the fold. this place has been rather quiet recently, i know a fair few people keep their car locked away and snug over winter, but i didn't think that many!!
Or is it perhaps that the beast known as Chimaera actually likes the minter months better than the summer? I've been driving almost daily, and all i've had was, today, the oil pressure sender needed the seal replacing...

Welcome back all, and to all the recent buyers of chims and remember, there aren't many cars around that make you want to stupid miles to get a pint of milk.... not to mention ppl ing in your wake. oh

Mine gets used daily too, garaged at night but at work, out in the open. No water, no leaks and no problems (touch wood)............

You need a cover for it then.......try Halfwits, they sell a really "nice" cover by Dupont for about £60. Makes it look like a space craft has landed on the drive, but is waterproof and breathable.....

Mines been in a garage 4000 miles away all winter and will probably be there until September. I have a nice man (my dad) to drive it for me once a week to keep it ticking over though.

But I hear you're not supposed to put them on when the car is wet, and its gonna be wet after driving to/from work or whereever......

I have a chim outdoor cover for sale. Not sure what type it is - I was told it came from a TVR garage?

Please e-mail if anyone is interested - I don't want to break any site rules

Oh indeed! I took Trev out for a quick spin this afternoon...an hour and half later I arrived back home But I wasn't fulfilled, I wanted more!!! I could drive for hours and never tire of him Brilliant trip tho', fast roads and country lanes, apart from the plonker in an Audi S3 suffering from small penis syndrome who had to overtake me at some exorbitant speed approaching a blind bend. So I had to brake to let him go in front of me Never mind, I think I had the last laugh...he had to prove something whereas I didn't!

D'oh...I thought I was safe on this forum! Yes he behaved so perhaps that's why I wasn't fulfilled!!

Joking aside, I needed to take the plunge and go out for a long drive. I'm happy to say there will be no more talk of Porsches in the foreseeable future...

Then again, Aston Martins!!

yep, don't bother with a full one or the nasty micro-blisters (or even worse osmosis) will come and haunt you.

get yourself a leven technology one to cover the hood.

yeah... might do that. I'd like to try and solve the problem with waterproofing etc first, as I quite like to be able to get in and go without all the faffing. May well get one if I can't stop the water though!

Does anyone have a Chim/Griff that lives outside and doesn't get small puddles inside (small amounts of dampness in continuous or heavy rain is OK!)??

Yep me! well almost, just a minor leak at the front somewhere. However, rear is bone dry!

I also use a Leven 1/2 cover!

Doh!. Does yours leak if you don't use the cover? or do you just deploy the cover when the weather is *really* shite?

Cheers,

Karl

I've actually got a Griff, it lives outside in all weathers.

I bought a Leven hood cover, but I've never needed to use it since the Griff doesn't leak, whatever the weather.

All I've done is soak the fabric a few times with Thompson's water seal.

I have a mate with a Chimaera who always gets wet carpets - it appears it's a bit of a crapshoot as to whether you get a dry Griff/Chim or a leaky one. That having been said, there are plenty of threads here on identifying the usual suspects re: leaks

yeah, I've read every one I can find. It seems quite good for the most part, and I think it will be a lot better when I can get the weather for a good few coats of Thompsons.....
