I know that everything can be made to fit, but how difficult a job would it be to fit a set of Cossie 4 pot calipers?

Solong as you can fabricate some brackets and have the space under the wheels it shouldn't be too bad. However you could save the hassle and go here http://www.spannerfodder.com/partstore.php The 283mm Chim setup was originally produced for my racer.

Been there frown not worth the bother and they are bloody heavy things too rolleyes you would def need brackets as not enough material to machine to line them up with the 283mm discs,of course if you could source the original 2WD/RS500 front hubs & stubs you could have your way and use the 4 pots wink personally i would not give this conversion the time of day cool just not worth the bother smile just my cents worth but easier upgrades are out there smokin

I tried and even sourced cosworth 2 wd hubs. They have a different bottom ball joint.

And have you felt the weight!!! In the end I settled for alloy AP calipers.

I still have a set of Granada cosworth ones in the garage which was the backup plan until I found the AP's. They are the correct 887 & 888 (I think the numbers are). I was gonna put them back on ebay but if there of any use PM me.

Thanks

Neal

I made an inquiry a while ago, but he didn't have any in stock. Perhaps if theres a few people interested, he would get a batch run off.

AFIK you only have that option on a thread that you start.

Just start a new thread asking who wants some...

Hi Keri

I am deffinatly interested in the front brake upgrade. Do I take it its a straight swap just need to but the spacers in when fit the calipers. Also that this fits inside the standard Chim wheel rims?
What brake pads are needed and can you give costs for these?
Do you provide braded hoses and what do these cost?

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul:

- Yup, the kit fits without any modifications, the calipers are on brackets and it just bolts up.
- It does fit inside the ("Imola?") 15" alloy.
- Brake pads to fit are available from most mfrs, the most popular are EBC Reds at about £35+vat
- We can provide braided hoses to fit (Earls), censored

Hope that helps! :-)

Hi Keri

I am interested in these for my Ginetta G33 which already has Cosworth Calipers and Discs as standard, but yours look so much better! Do you know if your caliper is much larger than the Cosworth one? There is only about 3mm clearance between the caliper and the wheel on the G33.

What pad footprint do the callipers have (pad mfg #s)? If there's a good choice of compounds from Ferodo, Pagid et al for them I'm definitely interested - although I'd prefer someone making 2-piece replacement discs in the 280-295mm size range as at 6.5 kgs the single piece 283 mm Cossie discs are not the lightest...

Hi Nick, interesting! Does the G33 use Cosworth uprights? Also are you talking about the 2WD Cosworth 4-pots or the 4x4 1-pots?

The WMS T-20 caliper / Chim kit won't fit as a straight swap for the 2WD Cosworth caliper I'm afraid, buuuuut I do have one last pair of the WMS T-35 direct-swap I designed that IS a direct swap! The idea was that if you had a Sierra Cosworth 2WD you can fit these on the standard discs and under the standard 15" alloys giving more power and bigger/lighter calipers.

Here's the setup I mean:

I can give you some measurements if you're interested? The calipers and brackets should be in the region of censored but I'll need to double check that.

The pads are a very common motorsport shape (100x45 material, 100x60 backing plate), we can supply EBC (Red/Yellow/Blue) and Ferodo (DS2500/DS3000), and have part numbers for (but might not be able to supply) Wilwood / Performance Friction / Hawk / Mintex / Pagid / Carbotech / Carbone Larriane (SP!)....there are probably more I've forgotten but you get the point!

The G33 uses uprights made specifically for the car.

As for the brakes I am about to run out of knowledge (I havent had to look closely at the calipers yet as all work on them is done by my garage man!) they may be the 4x4 1 pots, this is what the G33 website says about them, but it is really referring to the discs....

These are fitted to the Sierra Cosworth 4x4, Escort cosworth 4x4 etc.
They ARE VENTED not solid.
273mm diameter
20mm thick
43mm height.Part no. 5024175.

There is a photo of the discs and calipers on www.g33.co.uk in the "Parts Bin" section.

If they will fit, I would be interested in the direct swap items plus pads and braided brake lines, they key thing will be clearance with the wheel.

Thanks

Nick

That's the rear disc... :-)

Cheers for the link, I had a poke about and saw BOTH 4-pot front and 1-pot front (G34) setups in photos there - so the only way to be sure is to take some photos of the brakes on your particular car I'm afraid!

There's also a risk that the WMS bracket won't clear the Ginetta upright, I can send you a bracket to test-fit if you like?

Cheers! Keri

Doh, you are right it is a rear disc, I really shouldnt multitask!

I will take some pics of my car, its away for a few days having its geometry sorted along with a fix to an electrical gremlin. As soon as I get it back I will take some photos.

Found a pic here http://www.g33.co.uk/Wheelbearings.htm looks like a 4 pot

OK, chalk me up for a set of calipers/brackets with Ferodo DS2500 pads as I already got a set of 283x24 Cossie discs (the Tower View Racing kit, bought with a view on upgrading the calipers at a later date but not installed so far)...

Do you do trade/export sales? This kit will be 'for assessment purposes' (see link in profile). smile
