Hi all,

Andy_mr2sc and myself are buying Gaz Golds in the next few days from Mike at Corby Motorsport (sales@corbymotorsport.com), if anyone wants a discount on new Gaz Golds and is in a position to buy now join us and we'll see if we can make up the numbers. Pricing as follows:

£575 for 1
£565 each for 5
£555 each for 10
£535 each for 20

Price will include vat and delivery. Corby are happy to offer advice on spring rates etc. (see below)

I will update the list below if people declare their intent. Our intention is to move pretty quick on this so grab a discount while you can. I'll leave this up for a week or thereabouts.

SOME HELPFUL DETAIL FROM CORBY:
========================

Can confirm they are the latest spec with the spherical bearings. The GAZ GOLD PRO is available for all new gen TVR Griffiths, Chimaera, Cerbera, T350C, Sagaris, S + SE and Wedges and as far as we are aware (from GAZ) these kits are highly prized by owners!

As a suspension reseller, we are happy to consult on spring rates for each application, we just need to know power, tyres and what the car will be used for (it is no black art, simple stuff really!!), I always like to confirm with GAZ as they are the experts in their products after all!

We offer a fitting and set up service in Corby for local buyers if required (this would be at our normal competitive rates – compared to TVR specialists!! And outside of the group buy) although we appreciate that further afield many buyers may find it difficult to access this.

Whilst I'm all up for free enterprise, I would like to point out that technically all the Gaz distibutors could supply Gaz Gold pro for TVR but would they understand what they are selling, offer advice on settings, spring rates, ride heights, or servicing and warranty issues?.

I would suggest that if you look on the Absolutely Shocks site at approved fitting centres, you will find that some of them like TVR Power,Track v Road will supply mail order and whilst you might pay a couple of quid more, at least you wont end up on the forums asking all and sundry for all the settings and possibly paying more for geometry because you didn't get a package deal.

If I wanted to fit myself, I would buy off my local specialist and negotiate a deal for geometry set up after everything has settled down a bit.

Corby list a price for the Chimaera, are you saying that their kit then isn't suitable?

Suitable for what?
Cruising, fast road, trackdays.
Buying suspension for a high powered, lightweight sports car is a bit more technical than say a lowering kit for a Saxo and requires discussion about spring rates for required usage and starter settings advice. all worth weighing up before you part with your hard earned on a kit that might not be exactly what you need and then paying out later for springs more fit for purpose.

Just to add: before the Nitron fans chirp up.
I have also seen several instances of people buying Nitron kits mail order and being disapointed with the spring rates supplied and had to pay out again. If they dealt with a specialist in the first place, they might have saved themselves quite a few quid.

I completely agree. Perhaps you could tell us what spring rates the Gaz Gold Pros come with as standard if specific ones aren't requested?
The idea with this group buy was to give people the chance to buy some reasonable kit for reasonable money so more money could be spent on setting up etc if they so wished. This website has a massive amount of information about setting up a car for road, track, etc. without paying large amounts of cash or driving long distances to do so.

Does it overly matter unless they provide alternate valving? I was under the impression they were one size fits all and you can fit any springs +/- ~20%.

Just in case anyone thought otherwise, Andy scoured for the best price and we then invited Corby Motorsport to offer a group buy, as we all know they cannot ask for business on PH...

Certainly true with monotubes and the new Gaz monotubes will offer four valving solutions and spring rates depending on usage but the Gaz gold pro series offer five times more bump adjustment than any of of the monotube manufacturers(without a revalve) so the range of springs available is vast.
Its not for me to suggest any one spring rate, or ride height, or geometry set-up as a one stop solution. It needs to be individually tailored to each car and driver.

There is no doubt that since the advent of other Gaz distributors and Ebay shops comming on board selling TVR product that the how many clicks, what ride height and what geometry threads have increased ten fold for all manufacturers and that's a sign of the times as re-sellers look for new marketplaces because of shrinking sales but don't really know the product.

Its also true that when I get to go to shows, I seem to forever be be asked to have a look at cars because the owner is having trouble getting a set-up to suit their own needs and struggle with the conflicting advice on the forums.

I reiterate my original advice, buy from a trusted source that understands TVR cars and can tailor a kit from whichever manufacturer to suit the individual.

Are they aware that coilovers are not suitable for the Wedges. They need a separate shock & spring.

I've just checked their site and a kit isn't listed for wedges. Could be worth a call to them though?
