Well after having one finally fitted this morning, I can report that the high speed handling (above 90 / 100) is definitely a lot better and car feels much more stable (as tested on my private road of course).

Wasn't expecting there to be much difference with it on, as my car never had one fitted and was obviously ripped off years ago via a speed hump I presume.

Would highly recommend one to others who have nothing under their front end, and I'm told assists cooling / radiator air flow too............

Could you post up some pics of the finished article, who supplied the parts, if it was fitted for you or if it was something you could do yourself. These get a bit of good press on here when they are discussed.

Cheers.

I've got one sat in the garage that I picked up from Fiberon at the Roar gig last month for about £25-£30 I think.

It looks easy enough to fit myself, a couple of self tappers and some mastic for belt and braces approach, but as it is going in for a quick job up on the ramps on Friday, I'll be getting it done at the same time.

I fitted it myself so simple 6 self tappers and no lift to do it on took 10 mins .

Had it done this morning at Taylor TVR in Kent.

Easy job with self tapping screws and new splitter is Stainless Steel so should last well.

Only £35ish so bargain.

I was amazed at difference in handling once fitted to ne honest and front end seems more planted for sure.

Give it a go if u ain't got one, I'm a believer now and was sceptical previously.

Prepare to be amazed......

No pictures from me, but Fibreon can be found here

www.damagedtvrs.co.uk

TVR products and then select other parts.

I haven't got one so can't comment on what they are like.

Cheers

Sorry, My bad - didn't relaise the website was under a different name, and it is FibREon, not FibERon as I put.

  • hangs head in spelling failure shame...
This is the part, and it has got indentations for pilot the self tappers. By feeling under the car I think there are a series of holes in the GRP that match up with them.

I agree,, you must have one... it changes the car at top speeds and helps cooling a lot...
I've just made 10 in Aluminium with PFA coatings so may put a few in the 'for sale' area or on E-bay in a couple of weeks if anyone wants one... (just coming back from working in China and off on Holl's.. that's why 2 weeks. sorry!).... I found that if a car has had one before and it's been ripped off, the fixing holes are usualy not re-usable... so I've given mine a central hole for location.. but then left the rest out so you can drill them where you want... given dim's I could put them in though.. no problem... and supplied with screws (anyway.. this isn't an add... and ap to the OP)
But if it's Ali / SS / Fibreglass or rubber... you must fit one for sure.. driving

Several people have made theirs out of cheap PVC gutter.

Mine's been on for a least 18 months.

Exuse the shameful underneath, shot taken prior to spruce up!

found the "fibreon" web site now thanks and the splitter but if you click on Chimaera there are a lot of pictures of a "Base splitter" looks like could be two part, room in the middle to get a trolley jack in ? Think I'll give them a call tomorrow.
They certainly don't come "the hard sell" no description or fitting guide, no claims of better handling or cooling, no price, just pictures !

Anyone got one of these ?

I think you need to put a little thought into how strong the material you use and how you fix it. It's over 5 years since I published the 'gutter technique', using plastic (& I even specified cutting sacrificial slots) you can bolt the splitter to the car, as you rubber fetishists could as well hehe. Just about anything else and you are relying on the self tappers to tear out of the body fibreglass if you hit something in the road (pretty much a certainty). Some say aluminium is better because it will bend rather than tear out the self tappers..

Just be careful assuming you can fix a different type of splitter the same way that someone else has.

But may be you can go a bit far... was it AJ's Cerbie above who has a Stainless Steel one?.. Don’t know how thick it is but would think this could be quite dangerous.yikes It is a blade after all.. If it came off what could it do to the car behind?.. if one side came off and dug in, could it come thru the body? It could for sure take wires and coolant pipes out.. may be even brake pipes? Had a mate once who got a 12mm bolt stuck in his foot when it came thru the floor of his MK 2 Escort.. dread to think what it might do to a motorbike.eek
But it has to be strong enough to keep its shape and do its job at speed.. there will be a lot of weight on it at 100 mph… driving

Yep,heard a few scrapes going over the treaded speed bumps but good old PVC gutter still intact..probably helped that i did screw up tight with a good sealing of Siko flexyum..well it wouldnt be TVR right if i didnt..

I think I shall be giving the guttering version a go this weekend and see if it makes any difference to my cooling.
