If it's not a silly question can someone specify the best diameter for the gutter that's best to use and how how long (not wide) it should be?

Several people have made theirs out of cheap PVC gutter.

Mine's been on for a least 18 months.

Exuse the shameful underneath, shot taken prior to spruce up!

Mike, apologies for the stupid question but I am somewhat limited in my mechanical abilities / understanding rotate

Is what I can see on your car a piece of guttering cut in half and bolted/silko flexed to the bottom of the underside of the nose cone?

If so, how wide is it and am I right in assuming it helps the cooling and handling of the car by channelling the air towards the sides of the car rather than having it flow directly along the length of it?

If it is that simple I will give it a go thumbup

That's all it is, approx 1/3 section of standard 4 1/2" or 112mm half round gutter.

Mark out, cut with a jigsaw, fit with mastic and self tappers.

Job done in less then half an hour

yes

The slope should be falling away from the engine not toward it.

I've tried the other way round but is no way near as good performance as the correct way round

Really?

You may be right,I thought I was coppying others that were fitted that way, it certainly works.

Might be worth trying other way round.

Had mine attached yesterday and a run out today felt a lot more secure on the front, and noticeabley less lift from the NS corner of the bonnet - more just a vibration than flapping.

I didn't notice much difference in the engine temperature but it was a cool morning and steady pace so it didn't really put any cooling theory to test.

Being in the flooring game ,I used a piece of doorway trim to make my splitter . As it is not very deep I have no problem of loosing it on speed humps, but there is definitely a difference to the handling at high speeds.

Erm, what's the verdict on this fitting? I took mine into the garage and got them to fit it whilst doing some other bits to the car. They fitted it the other way around (smooth flow, not disruptive). The bonnet wobble seems to have stabilised... but is this the correct way around? My worry about having the leading edge forward would be clipping a curb/bump, at least this way around it should bend up not back, if you get what I am saying.

Hi,
I need to fit a front splitter to my '97 chim. Can anyone direct me to someone selling rubber/silicone splitters?
I'm a bit nervous of fitting a rigid one thats going to be torn off at the next speed hump...

Fit the guttering splitter.

Break it, make another and fit, half hour job.
