I've got a serpentine 500 without A/C or PAS and I need to get a spare fan/drive belt, I've been to land Rover and they list 2 varients.

Does anyone know the part number or suggest another supplier? I'd rather not go to my local dealer as prices seem to be inflated just because you have a TVR, rather like the FP relay that just cost me £7.98 from a Bosch agent.

many thanks

No markings on the old one Tim? Failing that measure the old one up and see if that helps your supplier?

>>Edit: Just checked mine (1996 4.0 no PAS or Air-Con) and it has the following information on it:-
2021213
Land Rover ERR.5267 Dayco 7PK 1850 Made in EEC

Hope that helps.

That is fantastic thanks Mark. No, mine is unmarked, so that is a real help. Thanks

Mine is a 2000 4.0 - no A/C but with P/S:

same as above - ERR5267 Rover or 7PK 1850 from anyone else.

If you were stuck there is another belt which can work which is 3mm longer.

ERR6191 Rover or 7PK 1853

My head hurts!

Having checked online the listing for the RR serpentine belt it comes up with:

ERR4461 Serpentine Belt - non aircon to WA410481 9.50

ERR4460 Serpentine Belt - with aircon to WA410481 8.50

PQS101470 Serpentine Belt - non aircon from XA410482 14.50

PQS101480 Serpentine Belt - with aircon to XA410482

As you can see none match Mark's number

Anyone with a 500 feel like popping out to their car and having a look for me?

The 1850 belt is a TVR special. No longer made or listed by Land Rover. Dayco still make it for TVR though. To be honest the last one I bought was only £12 from a dealer. Which is about the going rate for similar size and quality belts.

Thanks Steve, in fact I just read the section in your excellent book and am placing an order online with TVR Gear for the belt.

What about the throttle cable? I have heard that the TVR item is the same as the Land Rover one but just shorter, is this correct?

Or, do I just make sure I have a chock block in the car so when the nipple comes off I can sort it?

If the Land Rover part is longer then it is n't the same. I often wonder if the cable breaks are caused by fitting replacements that are too long. The cable has to go somewhere and this causes loops that weaken the cable.

The decision is do you want one that you know will fit or one that might or might not? Especially when the time you find out is stranded on the roadside somewhere...
