Hi,
For 20k you should get a good one. If you go for over ridders and a hardtop they can look quite modern.

My friends thinks Morgans are great and all want one after being out in my dad's.

I am currently a student at St Andrews, which is a ideal place for it.

The new ones are far easier to drive and more like a modern car.

The 1998 one for sale at Allon & White is a nice car and would be a good buy. I have considered it and it would sell for under £14k. You would have a Modern morgan that you would not losse any money on.

Thanks,
William

How about this one.........

i dont like red morgans, or red cars in general really. id either go for a green or blue one (dark colours) or that strong blue one obviously.

ive just read a review on the V6 roadster for fun (far too expensive for me) and i was suprised to read it doesnt have power steering. does this mean the 4/4 doesnt have it either? im only a small bloke and not the strongest in the world, so PAS was the only thing i really want on one of these.

Can any owners of a 4/4 or similar explain how heavy the steering is with lack of PAS?

lol the review also said the roof on the 4/4 is very difficult to put up, so how much easier are these "easy fit hoods" to put up?

Hi folks,

Two Morgan specialist insurers are:

1) "The Morgan Insurance Consultants" - 08450 MORGAN (08450 667426)(local rate call) and ask for Philip Bell

2) "Gott & Wynne Insurance Brokers" - 01492 870991 - www.gottandwynne.co.uk

I am with Gott & Wynne but both are good. I have no commercial link to either.

Guys,

"reviews said the hood on the 4/4 is difficult to put up". ...well you don't just press a button, that's true. It's not so difficult and I have no problem, don't use it much anyway and I live in Scotland driving all year round. Reviews of Mogs tend to focus on negatives and compare them to Mazdas etc. The Morgan is its own motor, try it for yourself, it's different and great for it. If you're not sure contact your local Morgan Owners Club and they will almost certainly meet with you and help you out.

I've never missed power steering on my 4/4, it's precise and fun to drive without it.

You will likely get noware with the Mog Specilist insurance companies as you are under 25 like myself. Norrich Union, Lancaster Churchill are your best bets.

I chickened out in the end and decieded that a Morgan would only be practical for weekends. I took delivery 14 days ago of an 05 plate Honda Civic Type R

Although theres nothing to stop me paying off the CTR in 2 years and then getting a morgan for the weekend. I do still aim to have one, but in the end, even my mom, who has always wanted one, agreed that for day to day driving, its not the worlds most practical car.

And hey, who knows, in 2-3 years time when i look at getting one, maybe i'll be able to afford one with the 2 litre ford engine in

I'll still keep my eye on this forum as a Morgan enthusiast with keen interest

James,
I hope you enyoy your Honda, I will hopefully prove that a Morgan can be practical as a main car in Scotland and cover 10-15K miles a year in it.

Still trying to find one though. My mum wants me to get a newish one as in 1990's as she thinks it will be better and more reliable, I like the simplicity of the older ones.

Will post on here when I get one.

If you buy a Morgan it should not losse money if it does it would be very little.

Thanks,
William

well when (note when, not if) i buy one, im gonna spend that bit extra and get a good one. I see a morgan as an investment and something your going to keep for a VERY long time, so on that basis id spend a bit extra and get a good one.

My Honda is good, no doubt about that, but ive always wanted something that puts the wind in your hair, so as i said above, im gonna work my ass off, pay the civic off as close to 2 years as i can, then get a 4/4

Well i posted in here like 3 months ago, 4 months since i took ownership of my civic, and already im thinking of getting rid for a 4/4

The Civic Type R is a VERY good and capable car, but im finding more and more, the speed is just not useable on the road (not legally anyway!), and its costing me shed loads in fuel (£35 quite often more than once per week!) as well as loads in insurance, and with the arrival of the new CTR around this time next year, im worried that residuals on my civic are going to suffer, so now im back into thinking of something more individual.

I finished work at half two today and made the 1.5 hour trip up to Life's motors in Southport, just to have a look around more than anything. The gentleman there was VERY helpfull, and i actually managed to sit in a new 4/4 and get a feel for it. I have to say, it felt very snug, and fitted me well. As im disabled, getting in and out proved a slight challenge but thats the same with all sports cars, and nothing i wouldn't get used too.

Maybe i might be lucky enough to have one in time for summer - I certainly hope so, but im 98% sure im going to be getting rid of the civic for something more individual, before i either crash the civic, or get banned

Dont really know why im posting this, but i thought I'd update my thoughts on the matter. Its been in the back of my mind ever since i got the civic, that maybe i should of got the Morgan to start with.

The other reason for the Morgan choice, is i now have a "beater" to get me the mile odd trip to work everyday - an immaculate 1989 Volvo 740GLE with full heated leather, PAS, 137k on the clock, runs fine, and all for the bargain price of £100, so im thinking that can get me to work day to day, and i can have something more exclusive for the weekends. The next step now is to sort the finance on the CTR, and arrange maybe to hire a 4/4 for a few days, or even just a day. Problem being, is the only place i can find that will rent a morgan 4/4 to a 21 year old is wykehams down in Kensington, which is a bit too far a field from the Midlands, so i might email Morgan and ask them if there is anywhere i can rent one for a few days, just to see how i get on with the drive / handling etc. Hopefully i'll find somewhere.

Nice one

Well even though morgan say you have to be 25 to hire a morgan out with them, ive been in contact, and because of my clean licence, they have agreed to lend me one for the day, so ive arranged next thursday

With me being disabled, its a little bit more difficult for me to get in and out, so ive hired one for the day to see how i get on. I'll be taking my cam to get some pics too, so i'll post them up for anyone interested.

Congrats on them building your +4 by the way
