Or do the Morgan Driving Experience...

Designed around the Aero: thrash their car, not yours and get instruction from one of the best in the business.

Just a thought

Was just reading some details on the Aero I picked mine up of Friday a 2002 Mk1. I was looking to see if a Sports shift can be retro fitted and what people thought of the sports exhaust, when I saw just how many owners of Aero's switched from Maserati's, I Part Ex my 3200 for the Morgan, I think someone at Morgan should look into this there appears to be a trend.

Heard standard exhaust, Librands, RTCC's, and side exits, all in the last few weeks.

Not keen on the noise of side exits myself, and the standard exhausts are waaaay quiet, Librands sound very very good, but RTCC pipes sounded fantastic. He quoted me £1200 fitted, that's what i'll be getting if i buy a car with standard exhaust system.

Edit - which car did you get? The grey Mole Valley one? Or one of the Libra cars?

I would hazard a guess at the Grey Mole Valley Car as I was there on the Friday morning as it was awaiting pick-up? (Or may have been Thursday, but they were fuelling it up ready for pick up??)

If it is, nice car, what a lovely colour. I had a good look around it as it came back from being fueled up.

Welcome to the club. Coming to St Tropez? Charles of Mole Valley was soooo peed off when I told him the details of the trip. Would have kept the car for another 2000 miles and come himself had he known the details

Cheers

What can i say? I do like the noise, but for my tastes it's at odds with the car.
Smooth lines of the Aero, noise like NASCAR

Hey, if we were all the same how boring would life be?

Congrats! (And another defector from the Maserati brigade too!).

1 - We're planning an impromptu get together at the Brighton Speed trials on the 10th September - do come along if you can.

2. Sports shift cna be retro fitted - you'll probably also want a mota lita wheel and a sports exhaust!

Yes the silver gray one from Mole Valley, took it to Devon over the weekend couldn’t really get to test it on the Devon roads though as there were so many holiday makers filling them up and I wanted to get used to the feel of the car before I started racing round small roads. Don’t think I can make St Tropez.
There are a few mods I think the car needs it would help if you guys could tell me if I would be wasting my money:
1. short shift gear linkage, replace the plastic BMW gear stick
2. Sports exhausts, there seems to be 3 different types Morgan’s own, Librands, and RTCC's are they all the same?
3. I am planning to get a hard top £2600 ish
4. The car had the pedals lengthened, I am 6 foot so they will be returned at the first opportunity.
5. new steering wheel to match the new gear knob
6. I am adding a Bluetooth phone kit
7. A speed camera detector had 1 in the 3200 and don’t think I can live with out
8. 2 more stereo speakers behind the seats

thanks

Do it - I think it's a definite improvement.

I have the morgan one - figure it's a librands but I'll check.

Let us know about this - I have been wondering whether to do this.

Made a big difference. I and at leat one other have gone down 1" in wheel size with a mota lita leather wrapped wheel - with a Morgan embossed horm centre and an ally boss.

Worth it! Possibly best to upgrade the head unit given...

Got 2 fitted in a lift out 'box' that slots into the parcel shelf - easy to remove for a new owner should i ever sell. Sounds much better!

1. Do it
2. Not the same, see my earlier post in this thread
3. Do they do a hardtop for the Series 1?

5. Motolita

8. The red and black car at SGT at the moment has a pair of 6"x9" in a sort of parcel shelf behind the seats so it is possible...

(1) & (2) Listen to the boys, they know their stuff.

(3) Personally wouldnt dream of a hardtop as my roof comes down whenever it isnt raining. I would hate to go out on a sunny winters day and not be able to reach up and drop the roof. Personal taste though and yes the new roof still leaks!!

(4) Not happy with my pedals as a bit high off the ground for me. Distance is fine though (I am only 4'22" though )

(5) Airbag wheel on mine, love the feel but the paint keeps chipping (weddinig rings!!) having it reaprayed today.

(6) Makes sense

(7) Like the facility abroad or in strange areas but my general driving around Surrey/Hants/sussex you tend to know where they are. My Snooper in the X5 has been in the glove compartment for 3 months!!

(8) Am having my alpine Sat Nav system transferred over next week which will incorporate new speakers and CD/MP3 player so can give you a bit more info then.

See you @ Brighton??

Congrats and welcome to the Aero Club!

1. can be retro fitted and I think you need it on the Getrag gearbox on the Mk. 1.
2. believe the works is virtually the same as the Librands, but IMHO the RTCC one sounds best. The side exhausts sound super when you drive the car, but the sports at the rear sounds good from outside...
5. see www.simmonds.uk.com
6/7/8. Chris Knight of Prestige Audio in Rickmansworth (07789-400345) has done quite a bit of work on my ICE. Fitted speakers in the panel below the rear screen and upgraded the front speakers and fitted tweeters on the screen; they can be removed without trace. Also an aerial for a TomTom 910. I can recommend them, usual disclaimers.

Cheers

Thanks you guys are good quick responses and all very similar recommendations, I think I will get the work done at Mole’s, as there are a few other bits to be done so will probably be a factory standard sports exhaust, and the short shift gears, Libra Motive say £1250 & £250 fitted so I will hope Mole’s will do the same or better.
Looking at the steering you all say Mota-lita 13” I had a look at there web site and the cost works out at £277 is this the same set up as at Simmons because that is so much cheaper. I have been recommended to use “Driver Systems” to do all the electronic work they are meant to have been taken to Morgan by Mole’s to learn about the wiring of the car so wont blow it up.
I had a look at the car in SGT nice car a bit messy in side needs a good conditioning, the colour is nice but a few to many miles and stone chips for me. It was that car that convinced me I needed sports exhaust, short shift new, steering wheel, new gear knob, and speakers behind the seat, it was an expensive visit seen as I didn’t buy the car.
