Well, after a fantastic trip on the minihoon organised by Dettaglio, mrs_t and I came to the conclusion that the Aero is a keeper, and that it's not going to get sold to fund future house purchases etc etc.

It really did aquit itself well on the European roads. OK with the roof up travelling at 90+ on the motorway it's not exactly a quiet car(!) - but that foible is far outweighed by the pleasure of dropping the roof and punting the car down a fine A road.

The outcome of the trip did lead us towards some definite upgrades.

1. Throttle response - it's a bit slow - so looking into what can be done.
2. Noise - too quiet still - awaiting imminent sports exhaust.
3. Steering wheel - needs to be updated to match interior in general.
4. Need somne straps to clamp the roof together to stop billowing occurring at high speed - looking into making our own.

Looking forward to the wheel especially- think it will complete the interior brilliantly.

The throttle reponse in mine was improved tonnes by the exhausts.

Go for a 1" smaller diameter Moto-Lita. I was warned by suppliers about going for a smaller than std wheel, but its much better, the steering is alot sharper. And go for a leather rim, the wooden rim looks great but lacks any feel.

Cheers - I asked Mota Lita about a 13" wheel and they strongly advised me against it - but I will now persist! Gonna go for the emossed Morgan centre piece (better not crash or I'll have a morgan badge shaped scar on my forehead!).

Wheel I've picked is leather and I'll be using the roll of hide that came with my car for the trimming so it will all match perfectly!

Yes, Moto-Lita said the same to me, but I think they are wrong..especially as I'm used to Caterham sized steering wheels! I also went for the winged centre and polished boss...it looks great. Do you still have the std wheel then? You will need a long hex socket to remove the steering boss locking bolt. My std wheel came off pretty easily by rocking it off the spline once the bolt is removed.

I also got Allon White to cover the steering column surround (the BMW black plastic part) in matching leather. It cost about £100 but was well worth it.

Like the idea of getting the boss covered in leather - and for 100 quid thats a pretty reasonable price considering the time it would take to do it!

Did you go for a Dished wheel or not? Figure I will go for flat but just curious...

Flat is the way to go...the wheel is so close to you anyway, dished would be too much.

Now ex-Aero 8 owner and it hurts....

Flat is what I've ordered.
Why sell the Aero - gone for something else or just not driving it enough?

Ah Judas, good to see you still look back at these pages.

At least you will be able to keep up with the (Aero 8 owners only) St Tropez trip and such like.
