Well, saw the car Monday, drove it Tuesday, pick it up from the factory Friday!

The car looks so much better in the metal I couldn't believe it! Alloys are 'smoked' (which doesn't show in photos) and makes it look so much more special.

Car has a few wear marks - stone chips, though mainly in armourfend (sp?). Front alloys have kerb marks, painted piece on top of st.wheel chipped and drivers seat bolster slightly worn. All these being attended to by factory.

Side exit exhausts... wowee! Cant personally compare as haven't heard regular or sports exhaust but apparently louder. What a noise. Mentally bought the car as he started her up!

Finally big thanks for all your help guys, particularly Mas3200, MrT, WR and especially Aero8 (and anyone else who knows me...)

See you guys soon? You will hear me coming

Hi, Boshly. Not heard from you for awhile. From Z3 to Morgan? Very brave. A ton more character but a lot less everything else. There used to be one past me every morning in Edinburgh rain or snow - now that's a true Morgan man. He didn't seem to mind getting hit by puddle splash from bus wheels. Must say Morgans are perfect for Californian weather ... but UK? ... I'm not convinced.

Happy Motoring!

Hi LA

Nice to hear from you too.

Been dipping in and out regularly but not posted that much.

Ive been in a 996 cab for a year in between so its not just retro I'm into
Mind you 911 & retro could go together!

I will also admit to being a fair weather Morganist, although dont ever expect to have the roof up!

Pics on here by the end of the week

Congrats! Yep - seen the pic on the factory site - looks very impressive - side exit exhausts too - mmmmmmm Look forward to your pics - will be a fantastic car.

My sports exhaust is being fitted as we speak, figure the side exit ones will be even louder that that though - I heard the GTN with the side exits on a top gear repeat the other day - does sound like a Spitfire!

Nice one! Same for me - as soon as I saw it I had to have it!
Awesome cars, and the best thing is that even petrolheads don't realise how good they are.
Just wait and see how many people come up to you and bang on about its wooden chassis.
Glad there's someone else who can post on here. Was v difficult to find info on them when there were only a couple of us - the other aero owners probably have wooden computers.

Rich - you'll wet yourself when you press your starter button - I did!

Catching the train up to Malvern this afternoon.... Yee Hah.

Shame about the forecast though. Getting in with the roof up will be fun. 17 & 1/2 stone and creaking joints. Will be like posting a parcel through a letter box

Who cares.... Cant wait

Picks and comments later.

OVerlapping doors - tradition!

Secret to their survival is providing a beautifully crafted, reliable, high quality product with great british heritage at a price people are willing to pay.

Aero has race spec le-mans proved chassis, with proven BMW driveline and an interior made by a british company that was recently chosen by bugatti to provide the Veyron interior. (Check out the Veyron dash - you'll see exactly the same metalwork patterning that you get on an Aero dash).

So the comparison to TVR is a bit off really in terms of the physical product.

In terms of the sales, even more importantly Morgan sell into the USA, and Europe in 'volume'. Aeros meet crash regulations in Europe and the USA, meaning that the company has a larger market to sell into. TVR's inabilty to sell outside the UK will always be a big cause to doubt it's long term viablity as a manufacturer capable of selling the 5000 cars a year Smolensky aims for...

Hi LA

Wot he said above !

Wouldnt dream of buying a TVR though love the look and design. Why? Dont really know. Hairy chest image? Reliability?

I guess IMHO if you want a modern sportscar buy a Porsche or a Ferrari. If you want a big V8 buy a Vette, if you want a traditional (proper retro?) wind in the hair well engineered reliable sports car; get a Morgan!

I feel I may have done a great dis-service to some great looking and great sounding TVR's but no ABS? no (switchable offable) traction control? No (read 'iffy') reliability? this is the 21st century.

Yes I know most Morgans dont have ABS (mine does!) but they are representing an older car with some modifications.

Anyhow, naturally Im biased.

Right cat, get amongst those pigeons.

Boshly (on the train just outside Worscester - nearly there!)

Looking forward to seeing some pics boshly

When you get to the factory ask a question or two for me - can the factory fit side exit exhausts to 2002 cars, and can they produce the GTN carbon fibre hardtop (as on the GTN) to order? Just curious....

I think the lack of safety devices is a big problem for TVR. The enthusiasts boast about how they don't need them (they are after all God's greatest drivers), but there a whole raft of drivers who want the comfort of knowing that they will not end up in a hedge - this dilutes TVR's sales.

However back to Morgan - which Aero model years have ABS, any traction control? Can ABS be retrofitted?

I think it's the mark 3 that comes with ABS and traction control. You can get a traction control upgrade at richard thorne's apparently (www.rtcc.co.uk/morgan_performance/view.html). I don't see the point 'cos it'd never be off!!

Its the series 2 (like mine!) that has ABS. Introduced in 2005 (I think) along with the 6" wider body, full length dash, airbags x2, newer hood mechanism, dropping door windows (whan opened) and newer 333BHP BMW engine (N62??). Plus a tad more weight I believe.

The latest version (06 car) is nearly identical but with the redesigned Mini lights. BMW took ages to let Morgan use them thus they didnt appear on series 2 cars. The new car is simply called the New Aero apparently.

None of the Aeros have traction control. What series 2 & New Aero have is DTC (drag torque control) which simply adjusts engine revs to road speed on mis-matched down changes to prevent wheel lock and subsequent spins.

Believe you me - wheelspin available on demand.

All as I understdnd it

OK, here we go...

Britlsh Rail did their best to spoil things - 4 hr journey, 2 changes, dirty cramped trains (though v.v.attractive Dutch girl to chat to eventually!)

The Almighty did his best to dampen my ardour (for the Aero not the Dutch Girl) with continuous precipitation.

The people of the UK did their best to restrict my right foot by commuting en-masse on a Friday PM

But I still had a ball!

It is no exagerration to say that I was laughing out loud like a madman on 4 separate occasions. The rest of the time I had this huge inane 'nutter' wide grin.
The noise! the performance! The reaction of others! But mostly the joy of driving such a fantastic incredible Beast

Watch this space

Mr T

Really sorry but only saw yr post after I got home. Need to speak to the factory next week so will ask then. I believe the carbon fibre hard top is now shown as an option so may well be available. Will check my price list and report back.
