The new version supposedly does(and looks worse for it), but for me I like the original headlights - the beauty of the whole thing is that it doesn't conform - some of the most gougeous women in the world have had an individual look, something about them that isn't quite right, but as a package you aren't about to say no.......given the chance!

Surely I can't be the only person who thinks these Morgans are utterly hideous?
No. You're not.

Me too. Vile. Utterly vile.

Go for it.

I recall reading in the Scotsman newspaper the Morgan is the classiest car money can buy. He was going though the car makers to decide on it. 'New money shouts but old money whispers'

I think I'd probably go for a GTN over an Aeromax - at this point - half the cost and greater exculsivity. Thats if I could actualyl find one for sale... Thing is can't take the roof off either the GTN or the Aeromax as far as I can tell

The GTN roof is just a hardtop so can be removed. It was offered with the option of a hood.
Thanks,
William

I think a DB9 is a far better proposition.

yeah but in 3 years time the morgan will probably still be worth lt least 100k, the DB9 will be in the 70k price range - or less if you're trading it... Exculsivity has it's benefits..

Guess that depends what you're buying a car for. You could enjoy superior craftsmanship, with a fantastic engine, and a great noise, along with stunning looks. Or you could buy the Morgan.

Indeed it does depend!
I guess if it's to be an everyday car and money no object then the DB9 is the right choice. Though personally I'd take a CLS AMG instead of a DB9 and spend the money saved with Kleeman or Brabus!

I'd take issue on the superior craftsmanship angle though - DB9's / AMV8's etc (excluding Vanquish) are merely 'hand assembled' - not knocking the cars think they are fab, but unless you're going to commission something like the Sport modificato then talking about 'craftsmanship' is a bit daft.

If you've heard the V8 on a Morgan with Sports pipes / or especially a GTN then noisewise theres a lot to be said for Morgan sound - though a V12 Aston is always a gorgeous noise!

In the end though the kind of clients buying the Aeromax probably already have a DB9/ Bentley Continental or four for pottering about in already - so your point is probably moot anyway!

There are more similarities between Astons and Morgans than you think - 2 important ones are the chassis and the wings/panels. Both are good examples of world leading British craftmanships.
They have a similar bonded aluminium tub chassis. The aero's is the culmination of research by the University of Birmingham, Morgan and Radshape, and was previously only used in the aerospace industry.
As for the wings - in the aero and the AM vanquish these aren't hammered out, but made by a process called "superplastic forming" where the aluminium is molded under heat and pressure to get their shape.

So for the Morgan Vs AM debate - they are both cars with incredible levels of craftmanship.

And for those ignorant of Morgan's achievements - the Aero 8 and the Aeromax are at the absolute cutting edge of sportscar engineering, but are just largely ignored by you due to their retro (and v unique) appearance.

Great post (didn't know that about the Morgan / Birmingham uni tie up)

The wings for the Aston and Morgan are as you correctly described made by 'hydroforming' - and I understand that both cars use this system. However the 'craftsmanship' here is using computers by a company in the USA called Superform. (see their website at www.superform-aluminium.com/)

Hey Mr T, saw a beautiful GTN @ GW (No.10 of 11) and the guy (original owner) is now ready to sell (£65-70k?). 2500 miles and immaculate!

I have his contact details if you want them, just mail me.

Boshly

And yes he confirmed 6 screws holding the hardtop & I believe he said he had the soft top option.

Thank for the heads up Boshly
At that price I'd hang on for a bit (plus mrs T doesn't like the two tone paint scheme on the GTN!)
Have to admit it would take a lot to get me to sell the current car - though from my point of view the slightly fancier interior of the GTN, the extra power of the 4.6 engine, plus the hard top and side exit exhausts are very tempting! I'll probably hang fire for the moment though - being rational I've got a new house to find and a wedding to plan so spare cash for new cars isn't exactly growing on trees right now!
