NewsFlash...

This clashes with the Brighton Speed trials!!

A friend will be entering his morgan which my father set's up.... So fathers heading down there for the weekend...

So had a thought..as we would then be down to 3 there is the option of "CONVOY" to Brighton.. hook up at the Speed Tirals.. then go to the SexMog (Brighton Morgan Club) noggin on the way back..... www.sexmog.co.uk/Page_2x.html

There will be a Large morgan presence and maybe even another Morgan Aero, dad's friend so we would be up-to 6 in convoy.....

Anyhow, just an idea, I apreciate it's a bit off the original idea.

BUMP!

Right then everyone - who's up for a run down to the Brighton Speed trials on Sunday 10th then?

If we figure out some numbers then we can book lunch or something.

Well, so far thats myself and Boshly lined up for a convoy to Brighton and another one (or two? cereal - is your father with the other Aero in attendance?)

Anyone else for a Sunday run to Brighton then?

Dad's going to take his yellow 4/4, 4 seater down (Friday night) as my little sister is coming along. As for the other Aero, it's up for sale, it's the one I pointed Verysideways in the direction of.

So in the end it looks like it's the 3 of us.

Well what a great day. Met up with Rich & Liz (Mr & Mrs_t) and moseyed (sp?) on down to Midhurst to gatecrash the Sussex Mog BBQ via some great roads. 25 degrees, clear blue skies and 2 Aeros 'making haste' through the Sussex countryside... lovely.
Loved Rich's sports exhaust (and his beautiful car! colour must be seen!) provided a nice deep rumbled contrast to the cracking and popping of my side exit set-up.
My honest verdict? Sports exhaust @ lower revs, side exits as things get more urgent.
All in all, a fantastic day and even glimpsed Cereal Surfer northbound on M23 going the other way.
Definitely the first of many Aero meets!

Have to agree with all you said Andy - great fun, and the double takes of the spectators were hillarious.

One particularly amusing moment when stopped for fuel was a guy asking the usual "what is it" "never seen one aren't they rare" etc - so I pointed out Boshly on the other side of the garage and he nearly fell over!

Great to have the weather too and be welcomed by the Sussex Morgan community for a fantastic barbqueue

I want side exit exhausts now - they just look so cool!

After some completely cr@p organisation on my part I completely missed (and slightly messed up the meet) however I have some interesting pics of the Brighton Speed trials cars and saw Rodger hustle his 70's 4/4 4 seater up Madera Drive in (cough) 16 seconds. I also managed to get up to Silverstone (where you saw me heading north on the M23) for the final 4 hours of the Britcar racing where the RTCC/Kensingon Classics/Melvin Rutter backed RTCC Aero was duking out the final few hours (during which it had a record 25 pit-stops ).

I did make it into the pits and managed to take a few snaps as well as getting into the scuteneering padock just after the race to check out the cars just after they'd finished. Also managed to annoy the EruoSport commentator whilst I was chatting to a driver apparently "too loudly".

I have plenty of pics.. of the Aero GT post race and some vid of it during the race so hopefully should be able to post something up soon.

Really glad to see you guy's had a good time getting down to the SexMog Noggin and hope to catch up with you soon. (although after seeing all that racing I feel a few mods are definately in order lol)

'Sounds' a brilliant day, I'm looking forward to meeting up with some fellow Aero 8 owners and doing something similar. I agree with Andy about the side exhausts, when you extend the engine they sound fantastic!
bounce

They will retro-fit them at the works Tony, but as they have to take the wings of to do it, it will probably cost circa GBP1,000 to 1,250 as quoted on the MMC site when they fit them on new cars.

Keep thinking that I should go for a gTN (if there was one for sale). Tempting but mrs_t prefers the colour scheme of the current car.

However a set of side exit exhausts, and getting the engine bored out to 4.6l would effectively give me a GTN. Might be worth looking into - wonder what the engine bore out would set me back....

Really sorry I missed it, sounds like a great day. Have you got any pictures?
I'll definitely try to come down to the next one. The car is getting a few things done at the moment, unfortunately nothing fun. The driver's window very weirdly smashed when I put it back up, and apparently there are 4 different shapes, so it's taken a while to get one. The brake lights have also stopped working so they are looking at that too, and whilst it's in I'm getting the stone chips taken out. I am getting some racing brake fluid put in, so I don't get that brake fade again.
If anyone fancies it I'm going on a trackday on tuesday 10th october at silverstone with circuit-days.co.uk . It is the day before 2 days of f1 testing, and apparently most of the cars will be in the pits setting up for it.

Why don't you just swop it for a Series II/III Tony. The same 330 bhp, but 350'ish with side pipes and all the other mechanical improvements. Just a thought confused
