Great. Went to my underground garage last night to find that some scrote had spent at least a few hours trying to pry off the badges from my Plus 8 with a screwdriver. Trust me, you cannot imagine the damage they have done - don't these folk understand that these badges are bolted on? God only knows what it is going to cost to fix. Why why why [bangs head on desk]!

Sorry to hear that

While not about cars, I had a run in with a similar mindset yesterday...

Stopped for petrol on the way home, could see 3 teens on bikes in front of the shop on the petrol forecourt and 3 inside. I filled the car up and walked into the shop to see 2 very worried looking shop attendants. The language was blue and obviously these kids were trying to act tough and impress each other (btw - this is NOT a 'bad' part of town... this was an affluent suburb).

I waited to the ringleader to pay for his chocolate bar and went up to the counter to pay. He moved aside and started pawing through the rest of the sweets while his friends did the same in the rest of the shop. After a minute more of hearing every word you can imagine in a Naval pub, Truckers Diner or Army Barracks, I asked Mr. Spikey Haired, Spotty Faced Git if he'd mind toning the language down. He said, "sorry in a smarmy voice" and I then asked him to be a little more respectful of others around him. He just stared at me and said sorry again in an obviously effected for my benefit voice.

I drove home and pondered on this (seething is probably a better word). While not an old man (I’m in my 30’s), I couldn't fathom the level of contempt he had for me and the other people in the shop. When I was in my teens, I would have never dared speak like that in a public place (sure we weren't angles but I wouldn't have pushed it that far) and had an adult spoken to me, I would have ‘shut up’ and listened and probably have been mortified that someone had to take me to task in a public place.

However, this attitude seems to prevail and it's quite worrying
