Peter is a great guy. His cylinder heads work, the MGB is transformed into a really enjoyable sports car. Mine with a 270 fast road cam actually uses less fuel as well. his econotune rework is often overlooked but for normal road use its an excllent choice. Max top end power go big valvle of course, I did smile

Had a good chat today, just got to get the head off now! Been sat on the engine for 10 years i don't think it will come quietly ! hoping with Kent cam, weber 45 and Peters cylinder head it may make 130-140 BHP, when finances permit maybe a full tubular manifold and sports exhaust to finish it off. Not a power freek but after virtually nut and bolt rebuild 85 BHP seems a bit of a let down.

130 BHP is entirely possible with that set up. The Weber should be jetted on an RR by someone who knows what they are doing. Peter can do this and gives you a deal if he fits the head. Aldon did a great job re-jetting a track day MGB at a B register "shoot out" day earlier this year. It made 129 at th flywheel I think. Consider a special tuning front spoiler to keep the front end tight at speed. Standard MGBs do have a lot of lift at speed at that end.

Got the head off last weekend , without too much sweat, (compressor and impact wrench helped!) looks ok to a complete novice. Will take to Peter Monday . Got cam and updated followers and pushrods. Waiting on carb. Just to decide what colour to spray car now. Was blue back in 1972! But my tvr is dark blue ..

IMHO modern colours don't suit older cars, period colous seem to look nicer although that does tend to limit you to red as most of the others a horrible browns or greens.

Well said, Nigel. MG colours are simply period colours in keeping with the period they were manufactured.

boy, if you were to get "up close and dirty" with freshly painted Primrose, Citron Yellow, and the much maligned and very misunderstood...but wonderous Tundra Green I promise you'll have a different look on life.

One colour that does look superb on an MGB is the Triumph colour of Wedgewood Blue. Years ago saw a Sebring special roadster with OEW hardtop that was a very well sorted historic rally car. Everything about the colours just looked "right" and it drew many admiring looks.

found this, trophy blue, looks nice, but now not so sure,? not "special" enough, funny you mention Wedgewood blue, I wondered about a baby blue ? trying to find an image.

i'm liking the powder blue, very classic, also keeps the V5 as blue , the only thing is I bought full carpet set and seat covers with red piping ? not sure it will go as initially intended a red re-spray.

I like Iris blue albeit on a midget, I reckon it suits the chrome bumper era nicely
