Need a couple of new tyres for the 260 and seems there are a few choices available. I've used Black circles before and know someone who can fit them. Question is, what do you fellow owners reckon are the best ones to go for? I have a spare set of wheels to refurb so might get them done too and stick 4 new tyres on the car so it's all even.

I'd like to keep it original, so swinging towards the OEM Continental Sport Contact M3. Only use the car at weekends / road trips for pleasure so money is no object (well... £200 a corner max let's say) and want best dry performance.

Would welcome suggestions smile

Got Pilot Sports on my 190, I thought they were the OEM Tyre make/version?

I think OEM were Sport Contacts (3's I think - but this has been replaced).

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's perhaps? Cheap on Camskill...

Now on my 3rd set of rubber with my 260. I bought the car with 10.5k on the clock running with new KUMHO. These provided 10k of good enough grip for all conditions and were quite quiet. Next due the money matter I fitted some MAXXIS, cheaper lasted 18k but not as good as the KUMHO tyre.

My present rubber was the best I could find MICHELIN Super Sport Pilot. Having covered 5k the grip in all conditions is the best to date. There is 3-5k left in rubber however not all +++. There is more noise and on tight turns the tyres crab increasing wear on the outside edge.

Having run Goodyear AS2 on another car this will be my next selection. I do not expect the same dry grip but they will last longer be quieter and should be better in the wet.

When I bought my 260 it had Avon ZZ3's fitted. I was very happy with the grip levels but the wear rate was a bit high (rears lasted just 4.5K). I did replace them with another set, but they began to suffer some odd uneven tyre wear on the fronts.

I replaced the ZZ3's with Falken 452's after reading so many glowing reports, but it turned out to be a a mistake as grip was poor (very poor in cool damp conditions) and they induced understeer and a general lack of confidence when cornering.

Last year I ditched the Falkens despite them having plenty of life left, and fitted a set Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They have transformed the car. Wet and dry grip is superb and understeer a thing of the past. So far wear rate is not looking too bad at all. The only downside is they are not cheap, but my 260 is limited to 5K miles a year and I use winter tyres for several months each year, so the Super sports should last me a while.

Edited to add Pneus online have them at £156.49 a corner.

I use Toyo's on my 400 and find them unbeatable.

My Winter tires are also Toyo's

Mine has just devoured a set of Continentals on the rear, I'm trying some Dunlop SP1's next which apparently are harder wearing.

Lots of choice and not too much consensus which is unusual I think. Perhaps because we all use the car differently - I'm doing over 10k per year on motorways in mine.

I've had the car since Feb 09. It had Continentals M3 contact sports on when I got it. Very crabby on slow turns and wore badly on the edges ( front). In Dec 10 I put Avon ZZ3 all round. And still have them, grip it great wet and dry but I'm on the third set so they only last approximately 8K. They are no longer available now as the ZZ 5 has replaced them. Having heard mixed reviews on the ZZ5 I may be switching to Toyo's next time.

Are you a member of the (www.two-sixties.com) forum? Lots of good info on the 260 on there.

FWIW I preferred the feel of Toyos but in cold temperatures grip was substantially worse then the Contisports.

Very few regular tyres work well in the cold weather,

I use Winter Tyres from November to March/April.
