Evening all,

After having much thought I'm quite tempted at getting a Late MGF or early TF as a little weekend toy/ project!

Seen a few for sale but have noticed the prices are creeping up due to summer coming round! But I've got a bit of spare cash potentially and would just like to get back into MGs again.

I know the potential problems with the K series after owning a ZR and a ZS previously, is there nothing else I should be looking at with the F/TF?

I did have a look at one on Monday but despite them looking a bit girly I do have a soft spot or one. They're actually not too bad inside either smile ideally is be after a 53/04 TF 135 with a hardtop and the 160 11 spoke alloys smile

Cheers MG PHers!

My wife had a deep red 04 135 TF with the 11 spoke wheels and big brake upgrade - all part of a factory option IIRC. It was a really nice little car, great fun to drive, didn't leak, good on fuel and servicing. The only issue we had towards the end of our 54k with the car was the headgasket which as I'm sure you'll know is a common issue. We had it replaced with the upgraded part for about £500.
It wasn't the best in terms of build quality but at the same time never felt it was going to fall apart - more just flimsy parts and not the best quality plastics. We also had a hard top for winter which helped protect the fabric roof.
If we went back to one we'd go for the 160 to get that little extra power and would definitely stick with the big brakes which the car does need.
