Bit of a story coming up.

One of my MG ZTs failed the MoT on a single but relatively serious issue. One broken rear spring. The other ZT was bought with eleven months MoT but with that broken spring in mind, asked my friendly MoT tester if I could have it up on his test ramps and check those four springs.

OK John, bring it in at close of play 5pm Friday. So set off in my XPG MG ZT at 4.40pm this afternoon and noticed the traffic lights near my home just changing to red. Be a good two minutes before green comes around. I'm turning right and pull up at the front of the empty right turn lane alongside the first car in the nearside lane of cars going left or straight on. That car was a new MG6 in a similar XPG colour to the ZT.

I lowered my passenger window and asked how he found driving his SIX. Lots of favourable comments including recommended. Then the green light so off we go. That's only the second SIX I've seen locally and it was good to have that brief but informative chat with an actual owner.

Soon arrived at the MoT station. Could not believe my eyes! Reversing out of the test bay was a blue and orange Ford GT 40! S-Reg suffix so 1977-ish. My friendly tester told me he tests it every year and it only shows a few hundred extra miles each time. It is locally owned but I've never seen one that age locally. XJ220s are less rare locally.

Damn ~ did not have my camera with me as usual.

With my ZT high up on the ramps, we were able to soon see and check all four suspension springs. All were in good condition so no worries there. No charge for the check either.
Pleased on all counts.
