I like the MG3 too, I could always see it being the new Saxo VTR/S, great form young 'sporty' drivers as its cheapish and has lots of personalisation options but I guess MG's marketing budget isn't very large.

Hi Guys, I just thought I would have to add my own thoughts about the new MG3 and our experiences in owning ours from new which is now 2 years old and has 16500 miles on the clock.

All I can say is that we love our MG3 and it has NEVER let us down EVER and for the money ( we paid £10800 ) for ours all in with our chosen spec and extra's) it was the best money we have spent on any car recently bought by us over the last 12 years and there have been a few.

Its primarily used by my missus Joanne as her daily driver for work and shopping etc and the occasional long run up north if we don't take mine.

Our dealer we used was A.E Wilcox & Sons who are based in a village called Whickwar just outside Chipping Sodbury Gloucestershire.

A brilliant dealership and a very long standing Rover & MG dealership going right back to 1924 era and to date. They are excellent in all area's and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new MG3 or MG GS.

I cannot fault our little MG3 in any way TBH and she often returns on a run over 50 mpg and always around the 40 mpg around town but the missus does drive a lot slower than I do.

There is no other car out there today that can beat it really in terms of size, space and spec for the money. Lets not forget guys its different too.

Yes depreciation is bad but its a car for at least 3-5 years if your on a budget and it will still be worth 3k or possibly more at 3 years old if you look after it. Its a perfect car for a new driver and also your granny or wifey to nipp around in.

Some may have had a bad experience with theirs but we have had nothing but joy with ours and we shall keep it for at least another year and then trade her in on another with our dealer who has said he will do us a great deal again. Bless him.

There is a guy on ebay who sells loads of nice touch extra's and I have pretty much bought everything off him apart from the sports exhaust which I did not feel was required at our age but I did have the new improved free flowing airfilter off him and this has made a difference performance and MPG wise adding a few extra miles to the gallon.

What is NOT to like about this cheeky little number???? We also had our rear windows tinted by our local firm in Swindon and had another tyre firm in Swindon fit the " alloy gators " to the wheels to protect the white rims.

We test drove the new GS a while ago but found it to be WAY over priced for what it was and the MG6 has been discontinued too as that was just a big flop of a car albeit still a decent car but over priced and not as practical as the MG3.

Cheers

I bought a used one for my wife last years when she passed he test, it was a 2014 so just under 3 years old and was £5000. It has 18,000 miles at the time. She driven it for a year and then upgraded and I thought i would use it for work driving from Norfolk to London 113 miles.

Well it has been a FANTASTIC buy. What car can you get for £5K that has aircon, cruise control, all electric, 5 seats and takes 3 baby seats in the back. yes the fuel consumption is not good at average 37 MPG.

I wizz down the motorway cruise control set at 72 (all these speed cameras) I stick my BOSE noise cancelling headphones to take away the wind and tyre noise and i could be driving along in a Merc....well ok not exactly but seriously, no rattles, no squeaks, passed MOT with no advisories after 32,000 miles and it still looks very smart. Red with two white stripes over the top.

Not exactly what i wanted and i am selling it to get my S Class (I am 52) but honestly its a brilliant car and after 18 months Webuy anycar quoted 4K although i expect they will knock that down.

For me I would sell this to anyone even family as its a great value motor.

I still think MG could have made this the new budget warm hatch for youngsters and go a lot of them into one
