Mine is an MY05 model TF160, which is pretty rare in itself, but its also the last of the 4 Monogram Bittersweet TF's made, so is pretty speical. Have owned it from new, and it replaced my Trophy Blue 2003 TF160 Sprint.
My OH has a Pearl black TF160 80th anniversary, and a 2001 MK2 MPi MGF.
My other car is a monogram twilight ZT260 biggrin

Yep - bought this one for my wife almost a decade ago, and we still have it - spent well over £12k on it since 2011, a complete mechanical restoration, including lightweight flywheel and Quaife LSD...

It's not "Trophy Blue" is it?
Could he be getting a TF135 in Trophy Blue, mixed up with a TF135 Trophy Blue?

Not a huge fan of dark wheels, but they look the part. Nice car, shame it died.

Now I am confused, methought anything with the word "Trophy" was at least the VVC 160??

No - The only true 'Trophy 160' was the 2001 MGF Trophy 160, it came in 4 colours, Trophy Blue, Trophy yellow, Trophy Red (Solar Red) and Anthricite. The interior was also colour coded and had special seat material in cloth and leather with 'Trophy 160' embossed on the seat.

The MGTF 160 had the exact same engine as the Trophy 160. I know this because I bought an MGF Trophy 160 from new and an MGTF 160 from new. I always wished I hadn't traded the MGF for the TF, as the Trophy 160 was more fun and 'seemed' more responsive.

The MGF Trophy has the 160hp VVC engine fitted (double check before buying, as some unscrupulous or ignorant sellers say a car is a Trophy when it’s actually not).

The TF was available in 2 colours called ‘Trophy Blue’ and ‘Trophy Yellow’, so if you see trophy mentioned in regards to a TF, then it likely relates to the colour not the engine. With the TF, the engine is designated by the model i.e. TF115 = 1.6, TF120 = 1.8 Auto, TF135 = 1.8 non-VVC, TF160 = 1.8VVC.

Thanks Chris........I think, so what is this car?

I am looking/thinking about a relativly cheap small sports car and I want the most powerfull one I can get. Due to its "rarity" factor, I have read that the Trophy is the one to get, after that any 160?? I prefer the looks of the TF's front end to the whale mouth look of the MGF. To me the "slotted" grill looks better.

Well, if it's a TF 135, it is the bog-standard TF, only the TF160's had the 160bhp VVC engine, the 135 has the NA K-Series.

Thanks Chris, but thats not a real help. Its advertised as a trophy blue with a 135 ps engine.
My ? is, what engine does the trophy blue have. Are they/can they be 116/135/160 OR are ALL trophys 160?
OR is the trophy blue a completely diff car than the trophy?

It has the NA 135 engine - NOT the VVC 160 engine. It is a TF 135 and the colour is Trophy Blue.

I think that perhaps the advertiser thinks its a Trophy as its painted trophy vlue but the car being a 135 has to be the "cool blue"...????????

I don't like dark wheels either and was never sure about them on the car. My wife's choice. I got a puncture they day I bought it so it had a black wheel on the front, My wife thought it was worth a go and as the wheel refurb it needed was her treat was happy to go for it. The wheels were dark grey with littoe chips of metallic in them so they sort of sparkled.

We put red leather in with the help of some very kind peope we met online and the centre console and door fillets were finished in X Power Grey. Im sure I read somewhere online that it got broken up.

The colour options in 2002, when the TF was released, included the Trophy colours. Again, I know this because specified 'Trophy Yellow' for my TF 160. The TF 160 had the Trophy 160 callipers, but had ABS, whereas the original MGF Trophy 160 didn't.

Again the only 'F' to bare the Trophy name was the 2001 MGF Trophy 160 - this is where the colour options derived from for the TF.

This was my other F which I stupidly sold. Got it with very low miles when it was six years old. A local car. The sales docs were signed by a salesman that sold my Dad a new Rover back in the 1990s.
