Has anybody got a buyers guide for the MG TF ? I've tried to find one online but can't.

I always thought the autos were 1.6. My mistake.

The 16 manual? How much slower than the 1.8 is it?

Rob Bell's site has a basic buyers guide, info on model history and some commons issues.
http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/

Alternately you can buy a more comprehensive buyers guide here.
http://www.mgfregister.org/shop/books/38-mgf-tf-es...

The official figures show the 1.6 being 0.5 sec faster 0-60 then the Stepspeed (1.8auto).

I like the idea of these 160's - they must rev like crazy ?! Are they a reliable motor though ?

Rover K Series is generally a good engine, yes.

They can be if looked after. Heads will go and I'm tempting fate here but in the five I've owned it's not happened to me. It's happened to my car before I got it though. Just plan for it. It's what I do. I need a cambelt service next year so if it goes between now and then I'll just incorporate that into the cost. Not that I want it to go.

With the right modified bits, it's a problem that I understand has been largely eliminated.

I'm a big fan of the K, It makes a nice noise behind your head in an F/TF and in all the forms I've used is perfectly suited to the car.

Well just took a 135 for a drive. At 6'2ft I found my left knee close to the steering wheel, right knee was ok, top of windscreen close to my line of sight.

Drove ok but was expecting a bit more but couldn't thrash it as on a test drive.

Only a 55 plate but guy just had to replace two front wishbones due to rust, a quick look underneath showed rusty sills at the lip where you would put the jack over. Are they all like that ?

Not convinced ones for me but if I find one local, reasonably priced and good condition may have a go !!

In my experience TFs are worse for this than Fs.

I suppose they are all getting pretty old now.

Driving position slightly lower in an f due to different seat Base design.
