Ta.
Yeah I think someone's made a right hash of refitting the wing frown Might be I can just replace the bottom section and get it somewhere close to good.

Post some pics so we can take a look. It's sometimes possible to 'balance' a door to a slightly off cock body...if only to get a better door/panel fit and the door seals to seal.

My 4th B, (three GT's before, last was a factory V8) bought in '09 as a rolling restoration... she stopped rolling after a couple of years of great fun, and she's now waiting for me to get off my fat ar*e and start the resto smile

Not an MG but close. 2 weeks ago I bought this:

Just about fits in the garage hehe

300 miles in and the clutch release grenaded itself on Saturday so currently planning on getting the engine out :/
Nice MG/Frogeye!
Could you please post up some pictures of your release bearing when the engine is out, as it rarely gives trouble, being such a simple system.
I will, i am as curious as you are about what has gone on in down there hehe
Looks like the clutch was a red herring. Started prepping for the engine removal and found the starter motor like this:

I had already started though so thought what the hell hehe

Another update:

The clutch release bearing was goosed as suspected and looks like it has peppered the bell housing. So far I have found the knackered clutch, loose starter motor, a wrecked dynamo and a load of dodgy wiring that I eed to chop out and replace. Gotta love finding out what people have done to classics hehe

I even found two Shreddies (as in breakfast cereal) in the heater fan confused

Like your indoor style there. Knew a fellow years ago who used to strip motorcycles in his dining room. He was newly'ish married. He didn't stay married for too long[!] Last heard of he was still enjoying an indoor engine rebuilding bachelor lifestyle...

Seeing pictures of your front room reminded me of my youth, when we had just got married and had a spare bedroom in our first house. I built up a semi race 1098cc a series engine for my drag racing frogeye Sprite in the warmth. What I had forgotten was that a built engine is much MUCH heavier to get Downstairs, than all the parts going Upstairs!!!

I'm just re-reading Don Hayter's MGB book and remembered your two tone 'B. According to Don, no B's were produced in two tone colours...which is a shame as have seen a few over the years and can look quite smart.

In the very early seventies, I was apprenticed to University Motors, and they did a range of bespoke two toners called University Motors Specials. Very imaginatively.

She was originally white smile
I quite like the two tone but will probably go with a single colour (eventually).. would be good to go back to original but white on a B just doesn't do it for me frown

The car is already in 2 great colours for a B, pick one and it'll cost you half as much for a paint job! biggrin

I like that, thats a proper living room!

I have been a bit busy with my BGT, I am now "back on it" properly. So start at the bottom, the floor pan on the drivers side appears to be peeling apart underneath and this is what one of the seat mounting points look like..

I toyed with the idea of patching the floor...

But changed my mind when I found that you could get an entire floor pan for under £100, so the cutting started.

Thin cutting discs are not so great for a job like this, they disentegrate too quickly, also my my overalls now smell like I have been alight!

Quick and dirty trial fit of the floor pan...

Yey it is the correct part!

Next job, hunt the spot weld.

Drill the out and peel?

Predictably peeling off the top layer was not straight forward as I mussed some spots and some of the previous repairs are a bit multi layered. Actually getting this bit off took some serious brute force and bad language.

Hopefully I will get a bit further next weekend...

Interloper, some nice surgery going on there and proper repair work...putting in a complete new floor and not a patch. Look forward to seeing the end result.

Thanks V8! This is wont be quick, I still have a fair amount of cleaning up to do around the sill and transmission tunnel areas. Also I need to transfer a load of captive nuts and bolts to the new panel, so that will take a while.

After that I can weld the panel in and think about which bit to do next!
