Does anyone have any thoughts on the later tf cars 2010/2011 being a better buy in terms of head gasket failures etc or are they all tarred with the same brush, we are thinking about getting a tf and would like any thoughts on them, thanks. John.

The later (Chinese) cars use the N series which is an evolution of the K series lump. If the HG does go its not a big job, there are several mobile mechanics on the Facebook groups that will travel out and rectify in a day, usaul cost is inthe region of £300 and they normally use steel dowels instead of plastic (the main cause of HGF due to poor head location) I Bought a Trophy160 that already had the HG done by a specialist, now more than 30k miles ago and temp has never fluctuated once. The later cars have the softer suspension so wont be as jarring to ride in. I use mine everyday, they offer a lot of fun for not a lot of outlay.

Have just bought a 2009 LE.500 TF from Trophy cars in/near Peterborough which has according to the garage owner new w/pump, h/gasket,cambelt,also had fitted at my cost s/s exhaust which does sound great. He is selling a lot of cars which is why we went from Devon to purchase car. All ok on run back from Lincs to Devon about 300 miles. Car not used since but am looking forward to a few runs before the weather turns nasty.

Trophy have a good reputation. Some in the MG circle say that they are over priced, others say that they are selling at the correct price, and everyone else is under valuing them.
Enjoy!

I think the work they put into the cars can justify the extra cost, mine seems to be about the right price.

Bought my Trophy 160 from Trophy cars, again head gasket/belts/pump done. Its my daily drive, every journey has a grin on your face. did 3000 miles across to Vienna then to Prague last year, never missed a beat. regularly returns over 40mpg as well.
