Hi
I've just bought a non runner 74 chrome bumper MGBgt to amuse myself by restoring. On examination I found it does not have a starter solenoid relay, there are just the 4 wires leading to it. The relay has obviously been nicked at some stage prior to me getting the car.

So I have bought a relay, it has 4 terminals, and I have 4 wires to connect to it. These are, white with a red stripe, white with a brown stripe, black, and brown.

Can anyone tell me which of the 4 terminals on the relay I put which wire to, or alternatively post a pic of the relay on their car.

Thanks.

Brown = Battery live
Black = Ground
White/Red = Start from ignition switch
White/Brown = Power to solenoid

For MGB wiring there are no better drawings than these just make sure you choose the correct one, that's diagram 16 for your car:

If you've bought a modern relay here is a diagram for it, you may not have 87A
