Some local yob (at least I HOPE it wasn't someone with a grudge) slashed the hood on my 1979 Midget on Saturday night. Unfortunately, even with the other damage they did, it's not worth claiming on my insurance. My friend has fitted hoods before, to his kit car and a Morris of some sort (!), so I don't need to pay for labour. MGOC are quoting around £120 for their cheapy Club hood without a zipped window. It sounds a reasonable price, but just in case, does anyone know of anyone selling a cheaper hood that will fit properly?

Thanks in advance.

I actually made mine, and all the interior panels useing leatherette

In the end I made all the panels, hood and carpeting for less than 100. All the panels fit perfectly, no gaps.

Hood is better than one I could buy.

The only thing is you will have to cut up your old one as template, cut out the panels and stitch.

I found the clear plastic from a tenting company in sheffield that sold me a reel 1m x 5m, which was enough to make the whole hood in clear plastic. That cost I think about £20 and I spent about 60 on leatherette for the whole car (panels and hood)

Just a suggestion
