Buying a ZT-T 260
Discussion
Am off to see this over the weekend. The garage have indicated that they are up for a deal. Not a Mark 1 which I would prefer but worth a look I think.

Had a test drive and very impressed with it. Just too quiet for a V8 but there are ways to address that problem. Negotiations begin tomorrow........
With the double Cobra exhaust system fitted, it will sound amazing Had mine for six months now, and they make you smile everytime you drive them.
That's good to hear. An trying to get the garage to throw in an extended warranty and some X Power exhausts. Having been used to a nice noisy V8, it was just a bit too subdued. It felt very nicely put together and it is good to hear your positive comments. We will see what tomorrow brings.....
Its nice to have the growl of a V8 but I was dissapointed at how underpowered this motor was, I looked at a 53 plate model and for the same cash could go a hell of a lot quicker in a Jap car. I've had MG's for years and all have done the job. This Range Rover V8 truck engine should have stayed in the Range rover. On a positive the handling is slightly improved on the disaster of the 190. I have driven both on the track and carried out a direct comparison to similar cars and it is a heavey poor handling under powered and over price machine which after 6 omnths starts to rattle.
Be vary careful and thats coming from a member of the MG owners club!!

Aw. Isn't he sweet!
If you've driven a 260 fitted with a Rangie V8, I'm not bloody surprised it had started to rattle!

This is getting a bit frustrating. I have decide not to be so fussy and have phoned about the available cars. There are now only two available from what I can make out. One has had major repair work which puts me off, the other is more than I want to pay. Any leads gratefully received.
Hope you dont mind me asking - I`m potentially interested in getting a ZTT 260, and have talked to the Dealer in Scotland about the Blue Mk1. this isnt the one thats had major repair work is it - the dealer has not mentioned anything along these lines? They dont seem very ready to move on price - but to be fair it is already the cheapest on I`ve come across (theres not alot of estates around at the moment).I would in fairness prefer a Mk11, I`m not to fussed with the different noses, and the extra equipment seems worth it. At the moment, the only Mk11 SEs are fairly pricey. Is £14k for the black one on autotrader with 14k miles good value?
Another question - I do a fair amount of mileage every year, and whilst I know the V8 is thirsty (and thats fine!), would consider doing an LPG conversion for my motorway miles. Would this add value to the car, or devalue? Is it something that could later be taken off readily if so?
Had a test drive in a saloon, must try an estate to see the difference! the saloon was very appealing indeed!

There is another for sale on AT for £9,995 which I think may be Vin No 470 which has been in an accident so be careful.
As far as LPG is concerned I would guess that it would cost a couple of grand for the conversion so you would have to do a lot of miles to recoup the cost. Also bear in mind that the 260s don't have a spare wheel, well as it is full of other gubbins so the tank would have to sit in the boot.

Barons sold one yesterday for £5,800 (was estimated at £6,500 - £8,500) http://www.barons-auctions.com/entry.php?pageid=59... Not sure of the mileage but it had 9 service stamps, I don't know what the intervals are though.

The blue one in Scotland has had some repair work to the left hand side of the car. It is fairly cheap though. I haven't been to see it as whilst I prefer the Mark 1 it is nearly 400 miles from where I live. Service History has also been lost, I felt there were just too many negatives with it. It was reduced from £10,995 fairly recently. The black one on Autotrader looks very nice but is expensive. If you trawl back through the ads on here you will see two very good looking cars for about £12,500 which I wished I had persued now.

Cheers for the info. Likewise with the Scotland one - if it was closer I might well take a look (even though its a Mk1), but its way to far (550 miles one way!). Particularly if its been in an accident - although I`m sure its been well repaired - it does put me off.
I guess with the LPG, the boot space might be an issue - depends how much space the tank would take up. Hmmm, food for thought...
