Hi all, a mate of mine will be undergoing a major project on his PR 6 in the next few weeks. He will be fitting a 3lt V6 honda NSX engine. Should you like to spare a few moments to see the photos that I will be posting, I'm sure that you will appreciate it. Before the project starts, here are a couple of photos of the engine. :-)

Engines are easy, the transaxle is the real question and difficulty in such a project.

From what I UNDERSTAND, THE WHOLE REAR SECTION, I.e. From the driver backwards is going to be cut off and re manufactured.

He might not need one. The NSX had the engine mounted transversely with the gearbox and diff at the lower rear with the drive going straight to the drive shafts.

I would have thought that the challenge in a PR6 chassis was balancing good weight distribution with getting the drive to the axle line. Locate the engine forward against the bulkhead, get good F/R weight distribution and then you have to get the drive rearwards to the axle line: move the engine back to put the diff on the axle line, get simple final drive and a pretty iffy weight distribution.

As the Irishman said "If I'd wanted to go there sir, I wouldn't have started from here"!

I'm impressed! Are the suspension mounts your own work or modified / original? And where is the transaxle from? Will there be more subframe at the rear?

Whatever the finer points of chassis balance will be, it's going to fun to drive smile

Box looks like a Hewland FTR....Be surprised if it can handle the torque if it is standard
