SR3 Paddleshift - how to find neutral

Returning to the paddock, when the car is hot, I often can't get the gearbox into neutral. It will go up and down from 1st to 4th, but not neutral until the car is has cooled down.
Is thia a fault or a characteristic of the paddleshift system?

It can be hard to find, but I don't recall it being harder or impossible when the car is hot. I'd suspect an issue of some kind with the adjustment or the piston.

I don't know how the button works to get the half-kick required for neutral, but whatever it does perhaps it doesn't when it's hot IYSWIM!
