sigmamark7 --- I've heard some of these exhaust silencers aren't quiet at all on these.....what are they asking for on static? 7k? I hate these tests, done a few noise days with goldbrick at donny to avoid trouble in the past

3/4 maximum revs, so 7500. I'm not convinced that most of the noise is exhaust noise on my SR3RS, because it doesn't sound noisy compared with other cars which pass the test (although what I hear is obviously different to the noise meters!) and has never tripped the drive by meters at Donington or Bedford, so I don't know what the answer is. Well actually I do. I also have a Clio 182 race car, which is quiet enough for Thruxton, so I use that at quiet tracks and have the Radical for racing and noisy days.

I have never thought to look for debris in the sump after destroying the starter motor. Where does it come from?
The three aftermarket ones I have fitted (I know, a testament to the connection between brain and foot) have been identical to the original and fitted perfectly. There are two types though, black label and something else.

It comes from the destroyed teeth on the cog at the end. I can't remember the exact gear configuration but there is a gear with three rows of fine teeth. I have it in front of me here as a momento and the fine teeth all have their tops missing.

PS and before any smart alec makes the obvious point...if I had kept all the Radical bits the Bertish family had broken over the years, I'd need a very big space to store them in. So I only have selected highlights biggrin

Just sold it to a mate, but was an epic little car on full slicks all prepped and built by mark fish. Sold this and the atom as i have a baby on the way,,,,,,but ended up getting the sr3rs smile The mrs hasn't seen it yet but knows about it!!!!

When I replaced the starter there was no external damage, thought I'd have a look inside and dismantled the starter and found it had been turned to dust...

I bought the 182 when I had a GT3, for the same reason - that the GT3 tended to measure 106dB. It also tended to do a Grands worth of tyres in a day!! Divorce and HMRC caused the premature departure of the GT3, so the 182 was turned into a track car. I then sold it when I bought the SR3RS, but bought it back because of noise issues with the SR3. I have been haemorrhaging money on the 182 to make it race ready and it isn't quite there yet, but hopefully it will be ready soon. Not having a Mrs makes owning 2 race cars so much easier and however much race cars cost, they are a bloody sight cheaper than divorces.

Enjoy Anglesey. I haven't been there with a car yet, but did a couple of bike days and loved the place. I also work on Anglesey regularly, so it would just be wrong not to get one of the cars up there for a bit of an outing sometime this year.

Still loads of time in the car but as first runs go was just mind blowing........especially high speed bends, just mind boggling how much corner speed she has!!!

hello, with regards to the paddleshift, and the selecting of neutral, if you hold the neutral button down, while operating the appropriate paddle, i.e if in second, hold button down and downshift, if you keep holding the button down, whilst operating the paddles, the system will do progressively shorter actuation of the ram, to assist selecting neutral.

I find that if it doesn't go in first time, dip the clutch and it clonks in perfect.

re starter ,I munched my starter 1st lap in qually at Silverstone. Didn't seem to do anything to the gears but when I stripped the starter following week,to see if it was saveable, a pile of dust and shrapnel formed a nice volcano shape on the workbench. Nothing left.

Was this a 1400 or 1500? perhaps there are differences between the 2 as the one that I replaced was a 1500cc and as you said, the internals are turned to dust!

And just to add on the Sr3, the button is not a failsafe neutral selector. It's kind of a limp-wristed half-shift. So you often end up going back and forth trying to get neutral. I found it was a bit of a mind game. The best way was to hold the button and give the paddle (L or R depending) a bit of a half hearted flick. Kind of look into the distance like you really don't care (that pit-girl's arse is much more interesting) and give it a laconic don't care if you do or don't find neutral, I can always leave you in gear if you don't want to play ball kind of flick.

Mines 1340 2013 engine.
I know others with 1340 that were talking about internal gears stripping. Maybe I was lucky just to munch the starter, 10 minute fix, or are the other gears internally an easy fix?
