Testing out some new gear we strapped our 360 rig to the school SR3 and sent the instructor out...

Make sure you click HD, if on a computer drag the mouse around, if on a phone move the phone around, better yet, strap on some VR goggles/Google cardboard and start looking! smile

Agree, very cool seeing all the action. I'm still partial to the front display including the map/mph/G/time, but this is a cool alternative!

gee_fin - Just want you to know I created this account just to say what an incredible video that is. I love the 360 view. How did you create it?

Thanks! It was done using the Freedom 360 rig, it's 6 GoPro Hero 4 Blacks in a cluster, then used GigaVideo to stitch them all together into the 360 view. Still experimenting with the system and need to spend a bit more time on the stitching but this was just a first run with it smile

Quality/resolution is the key tbh, a lot of the off-the-shelf 360 cams are quite low res. Even the new Nikon one is rubbish. But with using 6x GoPro Hero 4 Blacks you can ensure a minimum of 1080p, if not slightly higher.

We put the Freedom360 rig in the air and underwater (different housing, same concept), keep an eye on the NYT VR app to see more. In the meantime, I'll be strapping it to my Westfield and doing some drives round the island to see how they turn out...

i totally agree, should of said we dropped resolution in post production on this video just to make it quicker and easier to upload
