Seemingly a bit of a common issue

Whilst on the subject, anyone have a spare cradle they want to sell?

Radical now fit an additional bracket beside the breather to better support the engine. Seems to help in the cracking you highlight there.

Thanks Matt, looks like I'm having it welded up for final track day of the year next week

Yeah, noticed that Matt... do you know where this exactly attaches?

Two bolts on top of the crankcase.
You'll need to cut a part of the current cradle out to make room for the bracket to fit.

Sorry for being a pain in the ass, I noticed on the Radical site, that the Bracket is required along with the Cradle, these are both listed at the exact same price of £247 ex VAT... just wondered if that is one price for both Bracket & Cradle?

That support bracket was made to help with crankcase cracking, not with engine frame support.

Weld it up and go again, hopefully it will be ok!

Thought I'd show one in place as took a lot of pics on my engine out refresh. I thought this was to strengthen the crankcase though not the cradle although may dampen out high shock?

Just one more note, there are some shims between the crankcase and the cradle that make the engine fit exactly into the cradle. It looks like your fracture may be an over tighten, i.e bending sideways stress to accommidate a gap.....just a thought

Also I have just measured the thickness of the sheet on mine and its 5mm on one side of the new cradle (the side yours has split) and 4mm on the other.
Maybe as already said its a weld until the engine needs to come out then an upgrade.
Good luck

The important thing is not over tightening the that top mount.

They are 45 ft/lbs.
