Hello to you all in the Radical forum.........
I currently race Supersport 600 bikes and i'm contemplating a change from racing bikes to racing cars and like the look of the Radical's. I've been quite successful with racing bikes with race and championship wins and take racing very seriously and will try to do the same in cars should i make the switch but realise ther will be a lot to learn.

What i'm trying to get an idea of is the costs involved for a season racing a Radical compared to the near 60k i spent last year on racing my bikes?

Is it possible to buy into a drive in a Radical if it was a enduro drive?

Can i pay a team to arrive and drive a car on a full test day etc to see how i go in car before taking the plunge of buying my own?

I have done a potential customer day with Radical but it was all over way to quick to get a good idea on the car and how i went in it.

Lots to think about and all views greatly accepted...........

Having looked in more depth at the various series that are out there for the Radicals i'm not sure where i'd like to be running but do knbow it won't be in an 8 but more than likely by virtue of cost an SR4.

I like the look of the Matadoor sponsored series but this looks like it excludes the 4 in favour of clubsports only unless i've got the wrong end of the stick. Mansol who seem to run this series seem to do an arrive and drive package for the series which i intend to enquire about this coming week.

Any details that anyone has on season costs for the series out there would be useful.

other questions for car racers..........

how often are you changing tyres on a radical?

can you insure a race car against total loss in a race?

Could i buy a radical and then get an established team to look after it on race day and prep between meetings?

as a ACU National licence holder with an large amount of race wins can i just apply for aa MSA licence and race in a car or do i need to do starter type courses to compete?

Hi There,

I have been racing in the Radical Euduro championship for the last two seasons and I can tell you that the racing and the cars are awesome.
I have a Radical SR3 which is eligible for the Enduro championship and we race alongside the more powerful SR8's.
Radical also run the Biduro championship with the smaller SR4 cars.
The Enduro championship comprises of two 50minute or 100km races, half hour practice, and half hour qualifying on each week end. The Biduros are the same but the races are 20 minutes long. There are 10 meetings in a season.

I may consider a shared drive in my own car for the rest of this season so that you can get a feel of the cars capabilities.

the matador powertec challenge is for someone with a low budget like myself and its not a championship which means you don't score points race by race (I found out after I registered, no fun is lost though). The biduro and enduro series give you more time on track than in the powertec (btw, restricted to prosports and clubsports only), you get free practice sessions on Sat and qualifying and race on sunday. The grid size is larger in the Enduro and biduro series, too. My car is currently run by Mansol. The team owner actaully competes in Enduro with a SR3, so he can do arrive and drive in his Sr3 too.
I'm afraid you might have to get a MSA racing licence from scratch as I havn't read anything in the bluebook that having a bike licence can exempt you from doing the MSA ARDS test. but please check youself as I can be wrong. cherz
