My reversing has managed to lock itself solid in both directions and looking for some insight. Had assumed the diffs would have been pretty reliable.

Any known issues with the Quaiffe chain reversing diffs??

Any idea on the costs/process for getting one refurbed??

Should I just replace with lighter non-reverse??

Is this the same as the Radical supplied non-reverse diff - http://www.quaife.co.uk/shop/products/qdf7zr

Cheers

I had my SR4 diff rebuilt some time ago by Quaife, and from memory it was around £1500.

Depending on the age of the diff, later ones had some strengthened internal
bolts which I had mine upgraded to as part of the rebuild.

If you ever want to race your radical then you have to be able to reverse so that rules out the forward
only diff.

The later diffs went from 4 pinion to 8 pinion-and it has to go back to Radical for repair

If yours is 4 pinion, that will need the upgrade and that where the 1500 quid comes in

They are easy to strip/repair,but you cannot buy spares.

When you get it back dont use reverse!!!

I have to say I used my reverse all the time without problem. There is a bit of a knack to it, mainly revolving around moving the lever whilst the car is still just moving giving the outer ring cogs a chance to mesh.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I have exactly the same question as the OP.

The reversing diff in my SR4 has just disintegrated (early 4 pinion type). I only do speed events so don't need reverse and was wondering if the Quaife QDF7ZR is the same as the non-reverse diff that Radical sell?

Sorted now. The QDF7ZR is a drop in replacement for the reversing diff. The only significant difference between the two, aside from loosing reverse gear, is the sprocket centre bore and bolt pattern.
