The AJV8 engine also has uneven cam phasing which places repeated shockloads
Is that just a part of being a V8, you either use 1 cam or you get uneven cam timing.
That can happen on any engine depending on cam duration, lift and overlap. It's not normally a problem but if you have a weakness in any of the timing gear then repeated shock loading will accelerate wear. More on the AJV8 engine on either the Racing Green or AJ Engineering site - can't remember which at the 'mo.

Your AJ16 engine uses duplex. ie double chains to drive 2 camshafts lifting 24 valves, the V8 uses single chains to drive 4 camshafts lifting 32. Bit of a difference there...
