I'd say my V6S is louder than my Vantage was on startup, I'd imagine the V8 to be quite a bit louder.I'd try a V6S before you buy a V8, it's better in every way than my Vantage. 4 out of 5 of my last cars were V8, but the F Type V6 is as good if not better than all of them.

Thanks for that.

Would need to be the V8 for me. Just for the noise!

I am also considering swapping my Vantage S Roadster for an F Type. I have now tried several F type coupes and both V6 S and V8 convertibles (including test drives at 180 mph in the convertible and 183 in the coupe biggrin) The V6S I tried had the switchable exhaust and sounded epic, while both V8s sounded very tame in comparison. My Aston has a sports exhaust but I'd say the V6S was even louder as standard. I did ask whether you can get a switchable exhaust on the V8 but apparently not. To me the V8 coupe was too quiet and the convertible was either silent on the move or crazily noisy when the vales opened - no happy medium. I generally prefer V8s but not so sure this time... Every time I look at the Aston I think I should keep it, but the F Type might replace that and my C63 as my every day car.

The F-Type R Coupe comes with the Switchable active exhaust as standard, on the V8S convertible its around £350 extra I think. Was it the dealer who said you couldn't get one on the V8?!

Thanks, yes it was the Jaguar main dealer who said the option was only available on the V6S - which I thought was a bit odd. May have been because the secondhand one he was hoping to sell me didn't have it fitted...

Haha that must be it! I've just double checked on the online configurator and it is indeed a £350 option on the convertible. Standard on the R coupe.

Hmm…Black Pack? What else did you spec (the brakes aside)?

Brakes are standard performance brakes, I must admit they do look big, they just clear the alloys, the optional super performance have a bigger rear disc, but the standard brakes are very good I must add.I didn't go mad on my spec tbh, black pack as you already noticed, a must have on theses cars imo, chrome looked good on a E Type but not on a modern sports car, I also specced the pano roof, heated seats, red seat belts and loud button for the exhaust, the blade alloys and carbon bits were fitted by the dealer and supplied by myself, it was cheaper to do it that way and gives me a spare set of 19" alloys and tyres.

Would you happen to know if he has XJ (X350) parts too?

And no-one considers Firesand?

A rare colour for any manufacturer and still allows the stunning lines to show. Red is so common these days it has lost much of it's impact.

disclosure .. it's the colour of my new F type on order .. smile
