Jaguar F-Type Project 7

There is a reserve list for the car, so currently demand exceeds supply. On that basis the price should hold or perhaps appreciate. The unknown is how many of those that have been confirmed a car are speculators intending to flip it for a quick profit. If the reserve list is still not satisfied by the speculator, demand will continue to exceed supply. The car could be safe and hold its price if that's what happens: that would be great for all of us that have been allocated one. There are modern classics that appreciate and they are always special limited run models. If the car depreciates, so be it: I'm keeping mine.
I've booked my trip to LeMans in another car, so would be able to switch cars in the event that it arrives in time. If it does, what a bonus!
In the contract for P7 it clearly states that the buyer is not allowed to sell the car for a minimum of six months? I'm not sure what the penalty was though? I know from experience dealing with LeFerrari that they have first refusal to buy the car back. They have even bought cars off speculators unknowingly in order to keep them off the second hand market. A bloody good idea too, why should speculators make more money from these limited edition cars than the manufacturer. Besides it makes it easier for really enthusiasts to buy the cars if they aren't having to compete with people who just want to turn a quick buck.Hi, I have a 7 on order. Same old story on spec.: My suggestions for body coloured seat belts and stitching on the steering wheel were ignored and for "Firesand" which is a £700 extra on the F, I was astounded to be quoted £10,000 - it sounded like an off-the-cuff throw away quote that was intended to put people off (it did). I think the lack of options (and reaction to requests) for such as special car is a symptom of JLR SP's naivety (this is their first baby), they could learn a lot from Porsche or even Aston on this...
As for a contract - I haven't seen a thing yet in this respect despite handing over £10K deposit, only had the visit to Browns Lane and a letter from my dealer. The lack of communication is a lost opportunity for JLR.

I dealt directly with SVO from the onset. I haven't seen a contract, only a receipt from the designated dealer for the 10k deposit I paid them. If the cars can't be flipped for six months that's great, but I've not seen anything contractually. The dealer I paid the deposit to had another customer that had two on order. This really disapointed me! I bought a new Jag from this dealer 13 years ago, but other than that I have never been there.....I must admit that when I got the call from the sales director acknowledging receipt, I felt in no way like a customer! Why tell me someone else has bought two. I've had a much better experience when buying other marks. Jaguar could improve on this in my opinion.
The JLR Ecurie Ecosse metallic blue on the concept car is not a colour that has gone through the extreme weather evaluation, so SVO wasn't allow to offer it as a halo colour: QA rejected it apparently. The bespoke paint job is an even better finish than the standard one and the depth of the clear-coat is noticeably deeper when compared side by side. The standard finish is excellently though. The other advantage (if you want it) is that the decals can be painted on before the clear-coat is applied. All that aside, I've been told it will be about £10k....a figure that is so rounded it must have been plucked out of the air and one that makes me feel the SVO have a lot to do in the marketing department. (Constructive critism I hope if anyone for JLR reads this)

I signed my Order Form just before Christmas confirming my specification; I don’t remember any caveat being placed upon length of ownership before sale.
Having said that I certainly won’t be ‘flipping’ mine – I have had a couple of offers already over list, not significantly over (£5 – 10k), but my intent is to keep and enjoy the car.

I really can't believe Jaguar and Land Rover are the same company. LR seem to be on the right track, with the right product and the right sales pitch. Jaguar on the otherhand seem to live in the clouds and are completely out of touch with where they stand in the market. The product does not match the hype at the mo.
£130k for an F-Type with a 1930's dress is insane IMHO.....£10k for a bespoke paint job!
PS please post pics of your p7's when you get them

1930's dress? Get it right triple. What cloud should a 7 times LeMans winning company be on? I do think £10000 for a bespoke paint colour is silly money, but understand ferrari charge 3 times that.
It was said on PH that McLaren charge £20k for a non-standard paint colour on a P1, even if it is not metallic. And that is on a car which would be built and painted entirely as a one off anyway. I guess it is a case of if people will pay it, they will charge it.charlie7777 said:

Soz, 1950's...like I said Jaguar are nowhere near Ferrari, so charging these sorts of sums for paint, which from the interweb on F-Types has been of poor quality is ridiculous. Get the product to match the price, not price the product just to pitch themselves with the competition. C'mon Jaguar!

I’m certainly hoping that the recently announced MY changes for the F-Type will be incorporated into the Project 7. The improved SatNav and associated improved connectivity are long over due I think.
With regard to colour – I too had wanted the original prototype blue (Ecurie Ecosse) and was disappointed to find that the blue on offer was the standard ‘French Blue’. If the original blue (as seen on the prototype) had been on offer I would have chosen it I think, but as it was not (at least not without the considerable extra cost and possible delay in production) I went with British Racing Green which I think suits the car equally as well and is perhaps even more recognisable in terms of the D-Type racing heritage.
Roll on May…ultimately, the colour worries me less than the overall driving experience. And as none of us have driven it yet, I can only go on what Harry has said!
I have been told that they are not able to integrate the new communications system into the P7 model - no idea why? Also are the P7s going to have the new electric steering systems? With regard to colour – I too had wanted the original prototype blue (Ecurie Ecosse) and was disappointed to find that the blue on offer was the standard ‘French Blue’. That's not correct. Project 7 uses the 2016 model year R convertible as its donor car. This comes with electric power steering and has the new infotainment system with downloadable apps as standard. Not experienced it yet but I'm told it's a transformation from what the car had before. In other news, the first batch of body shells are now under construction; more updates soon..

What are the differences in the engine vs the 2016 Model Year R?

Well just had a call from the SVO team to say I've got a slot if I want it
Quite surprised as I think I was something like #25 on the wait list when the books first closed
Bit of a quandary though, with moving house and getting married this year I'm not too sure I want to put this sort of money into this as much as I'd love too - I've until the end of the week to decide so man maths will be in action...
