Put a set of proper period plates on my XJ a while back...
Interestingly the DVLA are changing the ruling over only having non reflective / black & silver plates on pre-1973 cars, it will now apply to any vehicle which falls into the Historic tax exempt class, so anything reg'd before 1/1/75 now qualifies.

The worst "here's a picture of my x-type" picture ever.
This is a thread for pictures of our Jaguars.jamieduff1981 owns two.
He posted a picture including them both.
Seems reasonable to me
The Cerbera is a tiny car though. I've a photo of it beside an F-Type I got as a courtesy car for a week. I loved the F-Type but the window sills were close to the Cerbera's roof height.
Hoping to add another Jag or two over the next 18 months. I want an early XKR and an early XJ-S (V12).

It's been a while, but I've got my old X-Type out after 8 months in the shed. It was laid up after a brand new transfer box went noisy after 10 months' use. This time I decided to rebuild the 'box myself. So far, so good. Quite pleased
It also got new front springs (all 4 damper changed last year and all rear bushes done too), new wheel bearing (all others done before lay-up) and new engine oil sump gasket.
And lastly refurbished Arubas, new centre caps and wheel nuts.
I have a Mk1 MX-5 to sort with my dad then my old S-Type gets a going over too.
and it appears you are giving a home to a chrome bumper MG Midget . . . whats the story with that, I notice its bonnet is upIt also got new front springs (all 4 damper changed last year and all rear bushes done too), new wheel bearing (all others done before lay-up) and new engine oil sump gasket.

The Midget was bought from a recently divorced woman a couple of years ago. My wife was on a little social night out with some girls associated with babies/young mother support type stuff and "a little red MG" was mentioned during the chit chat. She told me, we contacted this lady and long story short it was bought for her husband but he'd run away. The car had failed its MOT on a little rust hole and hadn't moved for 3 years. I had a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket so decided to give it a home. It's a 1972 registered round wheel arch 1275cc.It smoked like a good'un so I removed the head and found the valves rattled in the guides and the valve seats were badly burned. I fitted new guides, did some port grinding in accordance with David Vizard's book and had a local machine shop skim the head and fit hardened seat inserts and recut the seats. New valves were fitted etc.
There were signs of blowing between cylinders 2 & 3 on the block sealing face but I thought I'd try the head on. It runs much better but it still smokes so I'm going to overhaul the block too.
The little rust hole is 3 rust holes, but to be fair the shell is pretty good. I've got the repair sections waiting for it.
One of the front tyres had gone flat over its 3 year idleness which has distorted the leaf springs at the back. It has 81k on the clock and I doubt the dampers have ever been replaced so I'll sort that too.
Overall it's in pretty good shape. It would be running already but for moving house last year, starting another business in December and the X-Type porking its transfer box again

In this shot it almost looks like the XJS only just comes up to the window line of the other thing.Isn't the whole point of a sporty car to keep things as low to the ground as possible to help with the handling without trashing the ride?
