Thankyou and good luck with the purchase, I guess you have read the what to look for bible ?
Did you spot the discreet boot lip and rear window spoilers ?
Cats back stainless too so I have a huge grin wherever I go due to the obvious sound...
Yes, I've done much reading on buying an X308. Having looked at a few 'low mileage' models close to home that have proven pretty hokey and probably clocked, I've looked further afield and spotted a rather nice 4.0. So I hope to be wafting home in that on Saturday evening! Did you spot the discreet boot lip and rear window spoilers ?

And yes, your XJR looks very nice with the discreet add ons!

Okay, picked it up this weekend after fancying a better car for getting to and from work when the weather is too ste to take the motorbike. The cost was £1700 after some haggling. It's leggy at 159,000 miles but feels like it will go on much, much further! It's a 4.0 XJ8 registered in November 2000. Condition is good, especially given the miles. It needs two new rear tyres, which was part of my negotiation. There is an LED out on the far left of the rev counter that I won't replace. The bodywork is in good condition and very solid, the only rust is a very slight bubbling on the lips of the arches, to be tended to after winter. It drives very well, and feel powerful, smooth and handles tightly. The ride is beautiful. The clocks were changed so the mileage now reads 93,000, noted in the documentation. It all checks out, as I intend on keeping the car until the end of it's days. Service history is comprehensive and it was last serviced 9 months/5000 miles ago.
I looked at (but didn't drive) a couple of XJ'S locally and they were a bit scrappy. One had less than 80,000 on the clock but looked noticeably more tired than this one. One of those cases where I was more content to buy on condition than mileage - being big cruisers, these appear to soak up the miles well and there are no doubt plenty of clocked ones out there!
Overall, very pleased with it. Fantastic thing to drive and I find myself going outside just to sit in it.

Picked this one up last week...
XJR Super - where have you been all my life?
This plus a BINI still to be delivered have replaced our Discovery, and wow, not a shade of regret. Amazing vehicle, which has been on my list for a while. Performance is subtly effective, and my first tank returned a heady 22mpg! I'm going to enjoy Jaguar ownership.
