Thanks all picture off iPad so my error. Home button to right from now on. I am beginning to fall for Jags and am very lucky to start my collection with the 140. Going for preservation not restoration

Yes Roy, great to deal with too. I live a mile from where it was first sold so it's come home..to stay. I think it's love

What a- lovely looking thing the XJ-S is: so sleek. A rare version too.

Your XJ40 has single handedly made me re-evaluate my opinion of the model. The fundamental proportions have always been right, but quite a lot of the detailing never sat never comfortably with me. Time has been kind to them though, and I now appreciate the complex balancing act between maintaining strong ties to a successful and much loved model and moving things onwards. In many ways the X300/X308 was a cop out, and didn't even attempt to move things forward stylistically.

TL:DR version - the XJ40s day has arrived :-D

Me too. And I'm not sure how I feel about that because I'm not good at resisting buying cars I've never had before and fancy trying now.

I want to try one too, especially as I've been told they have a more comfort oriented ride than the X300 and the ride on my Sovereign was sublime!

I'm not surprised! Those facelift S-types are a hidden gem, especially the Rs like yours smile Still miss my 4.2.
