I'm in two minds - it makes the cabin a nicer place to be but from the outside it spoils the classic looks of the car in my view.

I'd personally spend the money putting the the equipment on it which it ought to have as standard!

Feels claustrophobic without the pano roof IMHO.

It definitely makes the cabin feel bigger, with the blind closed I agree with Phil, it does feel a little claustrophobic. That said, is it essential? No. I prefer the look of it as I chose white with black contrasts (black wheels, black pack and black pano roof) but I don't think I would miss it that much if I didn't have it. Now the switchable active exhaust on the other hand, that is definitely essential.

Thanks for the comments guys

I agree that some colours are set off by the pano roof....especially white, red, silver.

I am considering getting a black car so in my opinion the pano roof would not be a big loss appearance wise and I could use the money saved a put it towards the 20" Black Tornado wheel which I really like.

If you have a black interior and black headlining I would get the pano roof.

Pano roof is a must have IMHO. Re-sale especially.

Makes the modern car if today.

PS Get decent wheels as well. £1000 is about £30/month on a pcp. Just get a good spec car

For those of you who have been lucky enough to drive or own an an F Type, how does the Coupe compare driveability wise with the convertable? Im aware that the V8R is more powerful than the V8S but is there more to it?

Coupe is 80% stiffer according to Jaguar. I've driven about 5,000 miles in my V8S and have driven a number of coupes on road and around the track. I honestly can't tell much difference, they're both stonkingly good.

So.......do I buy a coupe or a convertible?.... either way it's got to be the V8.I'm looking to buy one in 12-18 months time and I'm not sure if the coupe will command a premium over the convertible?.....I guess only time will tell.

The coupe is less expensive than the convertible. Jaguar expect 57% of cars sold to be coupes so I can't see why they would command a premium. IMHO (disclaimer - I drive one and sell them for a living) the convertible gives the bigger thrills and with roof up the coupe looks better. With roof down on the vert I think it's even but that's subjective. The noise in a V8 convertible with the roof down will keep you laughing all day. Driveability wise I can't tell much difference, they are both sublime drivers cars. So you pay your money and take your choice.

FWIW, i chose convertible purely because i wanted it as an occasional driver. Coupe is fantastic but, maybe too usable and therefore will make it feel less special over time? Noise with the roof down on a V8S is sublime :-)

As a coupe owner I guess I should come down on its side but really I've driven both and as unrepentant said they are both great. Convertible's have just never been for me, I prefer the looks of the coupe and having a solid (albeit glass) roof above me. Ultimately, which does it for you? They both drive, look and sound amazing so you can't really go wrong.
