I'm not going to do a full experience report as that has been done, and very well too.

Just my impressions of the F Type V8 R that I was fortunate enough to be loaned whilst my XKR was in for service.

WOW!!!! And that from a hardened V12V driver.

The coupe was simply fantastic. Managed 300 miles under motorway and A road conditions and this car is in a league of its own. I have not stopped grinning. The noise is obscene and I love it. Handling for road use, up there or better than any of my previous drives.

Power delivery is effortless.

I love the cockpit, for me, everything is logically placed without fumbling for this or that control. I even like the maligned sat nav, though having used the Aston and XKR dinosaurs , I guess anything is an improvement.

The panorama roof for me would be a must. IMHO it looks great and let's much needed light in.

Against popular opinion I really didn't like it in white. I think red would suit or maybe BRG or blue. Not having seen either, I have no idea.

The dealer salesman is very good. Even though I said absolutely no way would I buy one, he knows me and has put massive temptation in front of me.

My spec though, without carbon brakes is coming in at £96,000 so his pencil will have to be very sharp.

I'm penning this before I take it back and collect my XKR.

I love that car but the F Type has wooed me far more than I would ever have believed.

Hmmmmm, we will see.

Good to see that after the XKR that, from your posts also in the Aston forum, seemed to be mainly a "rational" buy now Jaguar might be also a tempting "passion" buy!

I have always been a supporter of the white or black colour but after the red one I saw on the M25 the other day (posted a picture here) I have to say red looks stunning

There is also a nice "comparo" between a red F-Type R Coupe and an XK Dynamic R coupe in Autocar (last week number) which is worth a look even just to see them both in the same colour

Back from dealer and now seen one in Rhodium silver(sp) and smitten. It's almost the spec I would have with the exception of the wheels which are the most expensive carbon finish options. I could live with that. And no blind spot monitoring which I think is very important and can't understand why it isn't standard.

The silver, far from being boring makes it look very classy in my opinion.

So I could have this car, waiting for Sept registration.

Serious number crunching to ensue.

Very very tempted.

Hmmm

I went from XKR to F-Type V8S in Feb Di.

Knowing the car and knowing you I'd be surprised if you're not in the F club pretty pronto. wink

P.S. The coupe looks great in the new dark sapphire.

Been driving the V8S today - and still smiling :-) Having come from Ferrari 360 Stradale's, Porsche GT3 RS - the F Type V8 is a gem and a bargain IMO. More grunt than you'd need from any road car, an animal and brutal in Dynamic mode with the exhaust switched on but docile when you want it to be. Every creature comfort you could want in a GT car. Oh, and did i mention the noise!!!!? Epic. How on earth Jaguar got that through EU regs - i'll never know.

I can't see another car at £100k that comes close to the F Type V8 as it's such a good all-rounder which is also a head turning, beautifully designed car.

Just looking at these now and there are a lot about for an in demand car in summer (!) I would be wary unless huge loyalty (Jag to Jag) discounts prevail. I like this one but not at that price http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

It's September on Monday mate.

Why would you be "wary"? You either want the car or you don't. I never understand this sort of attitude. If buying a car requires you getting a huge discount you're probably on the wrong car........

Everyone knows Jaguar do huge loyalty discounts even if your last car wasn't a Jag - you can easily pay £80k for a F type 3.0 that will have your pants down on trade in unless you buy it right OR you get it as a company car and it doesn't matter is one possibility. I think its overpriced for the standard of interior but is more rewarding as a experience however Jaguar quality is not Porsche or MB quality but its not intended to be however its priced as such - the F needs a 20% price cut

Hi Paul (unrepentant ) wavey

Hope alls well with you across the pond. To this day I still smile about our drive to TVR Blackpool. Seems an age ago now.

I don't know whether the comments made are general, but don't apply to me. Sure, there are loads of convertibles around, but I am only interested in the coupe of which there are few in anything like the spec I want.

I am still in negotiation and a decision will be made in day or two.

Hi Di.

It was 2005 so it was an age!

Hope you and Tony are both well.. All is good here although it's 90 degrees and humid as hell today and I've just been cutting the lawn. Off to the UK Sunday for some temperate weather!

Are you going to the Goodwood Revival? I will be there on the Sunday as a guest of JLR.

Get that coupe, you won't be disappointed. wink
