Morning

So in final decision stage I have 32K and looked at Aston Martin 2006, Jaguar XK-R and of course Audi R8/Porsche Panama etc that can't afford.

So question is anything I should look out for or differences on the Jaguar XK-R ? The one Im looking at is a late 2010 with speed and black pack, any must have extras, did the shape change in 2011 ? Can I change the headlights to a newer variant ?

I did find a XKR-S for around 45K on Auto trader that looked a beast and then moved to look at F-Type then realised again as with Audi R8 can't afford it :-)

Hints, thoughts, advice ? Any one selling something similar ?

The late 2010 model is the facelifted version, slightly different tail lights and front bumper plus a new 5.0 V8 engine. I have driven and 07 XKR 4.2 V8 and I really want one, I cannot afford the newer 5.0. As to watch out for, I don't really know - i'm a member on the Jaguar Forum though which is a brilliant forum and there is a section for the XK/XKR. Things I know that have been problematic for someone I knew who owned one are the air con compressors can dry out completely if you don't run it on Auto all the time and some parking brake issues where it gets stuck and the car cannot move. You can upgrade the rear lights to the >2010 model if you bought the 4.2 model, its easy enough, just need a relay for the indicators as they are LED on the 5.0.

Hope this helps and happy hunting.

The 5L XKR arrived in 2009 on a 09 plate. The face lifted headlights etc came in 2011. I don't think that you can change the headlights because they are quite different in shape.

My 62 plate XKR looks a lot better than my 09 car (pic on my profile). The pre face lift cars still look good, more so with the Black&Speed packs and it's the same engine in both variants. The black and speed packs are very sought after because they really transform the look of the car.

I own a late 2010 XKR with black and speed pack. I'm not aware of any must have extras as it's extremely well equipped as it is. The paper-work calls it a 2011 model. The only change as far as I'm concerned is the little LED's on the headlight surround. Oh and they fiddled with the badges on the front wings but to my eye they've spoilt it. All things being equal
it's a fine car to own and drive.

Lovely motor. I'm looking at XKRs again, I want a black one with black leather. Had one as my wedding car in June.
