Hello all,
I hope you don't mind me dropping in from the TVR forum but I have a question regarding tyres for my 2001 S Type 3.0, pre face lift obviously.
The car rides on 7.5 x 17 standard factory fit "Sport" alloy wheels, currently fitted with 235/50 X 17 tyres.
These will shortly be in need of replacement and as you probably know there is limited choice in this size.
I would like premium quality tyres but the best I have been offered so far are Yokohama V105S which are available in the correct size. My question is: can I fit 245/45 x 17 tyres to the standard rims?
I know the later S types with the same size wheels (albeit a different style) had these fitted but everyone seems reluctant to give a definite answer, even JLR wouldn't commit themselves!
Ironically the tyre pressure label on the door jamb shows 245 tyres listed but the dealers say that235 are the correct size!
All comments greatly appreciated! Many thanks, Chris.

Mine wears 18" 245s with plenty clearance all round. Given that the Rs wore staggered wheels with wider rears still, I think it's safe to say you will not have any problems.

Thanks for that.
The one thing that worried me more though is whether the 245 45 x 17 tyres would be ok on 7.5" rims?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks, Chris.
