Pre-Owned F Types
Discussion
A used car in limited stock not being perfect.... shocker.
Surely you can operate the internet to the point you don't need a dealer to find you a car....
If there nothing in stock on the website, go in, ask to view the back office system, if there nothing on there then you have to wait. Simples.

if you have that kind of attitude when you go to Jag dealers not surprised they don't want to sell to you !
.....seems like Jaguar may have a problem with the attitude of a number of their customers because there are 150 pre-owned F Types for sale on PH alone....which goes back to my original question on the beginning of this thread...about used F Types being overpriced if you have that kind of attitude when you go to Jag dealers not surprised they don't want to sell to you !

With 85 dealers in the uk, thats on average one or two cars per dealer. Doesnt seem like a glut?So maybe the attitude problem doesnt lie with them?
Maybe its not everyone else, maybe its you?

While any item for sale is only actually worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, that they are more than you want to pay does not mean they are overpriced. If they can sell them at that price, then they definitely aren't overpriced.Supply and demand will out, so in order to reduce the price, you should go and buy something else.
Well Gentlemen....I`m a little surprised by some of your recent reactions to my posts to say the least!
As you can probably gather I have been on PH forum for the best part of 10 years, mainly on the TVR forums. We tend to have some lively, friendly banter on there and its taken tongue in cheek.
The F Type is a brilliant car and would have been my first Jaguar purchase.
Obviously judging by recent comments Jaguar owners are a different breed to TVR owners and it doesn`t appear my face will fit in, so as someone as suggested I will go and buy something else.
Goodbye.

Honestly you started the discussion saying that F-Type are overpriced and do not sell and keep on repeating that saying that Jaguar must have problems in selling etc
You got quite a lot of sensible and pertinent responses. You did not like some of the responses and say that you will go and put a deposit on the new TVR as a dealer could not find the car you want at the price (low) that you want straight away and dare to offer something similar
Then you say that you do not like the responses on here and that the TVR forum is more friendly and because of that you are not buying a Jaguar anymore
Still no idea why you started this discussion. Did you want the other to say "you are right, they do not sell because they are overpriced, go and put a deposit on the new TVR which is going to be a great car"? If that is what you want to hear I just wrote it so you should be happy now
If you expect to go into a dealer telling them all the specs that you want and the price you are willing to/can pay and they automatically find it then I am afraid you will have problems buying any kind of car
If you are really interested just monitor PH, dealers and other places for the specs you want till when you find the one with the right price.
Again it seems a lot depends on the specs and you have quite a lot of sensible answers and point of views here (also from people you found the "right" F-type for them

While a car is only worth what someone will pay for it, it is also the case that you can only buy a car for what someone is prepared to sell it to you for.
Without going all the way back these this thread I thought it had started by complaining that F-Type were depreciating too quickly, so were over priced when new as you'd lose to much. Now you seem to be complaining that they don't depreciate enough.

Goodbye.
Have you tried looking privately? You'll still get the remainder of the warranty. My guess is (as your from a TVR) your heart is set on v8S with black pack, sports seats, and a few other bits n bobs (gloss black 20" wheels perhaps?).As you can probably gather I have been on PH forum for the best part of 10 years, mainly on the TVR forums. Don't dismiss the v6S if you want an F Type. I was looking at used R8s and facelift r35 GTRs. The sound of the V6s is on par volume wise with my pals 430 spyder. It sounds immense - especially shifting when in manual mode. I think a lot of folk automatically go for the V8 (like I thought) however I've been really pleased so far with my V6S purchase.
Maybe I'll upgrade to a used v8R in a few years, until then though I'm more than happy with all aspects of this model (sound, performance, theatre etc).
V8's appear to lose £2k/month off list , the V6's £1.5k. I think they are overpriced, hence the massive depreciation. It used to be you would lose 50% after 3 years, now I think it's 50% after just over 2 years. Cars are now disposable assets.
New 911's (991) being pitched at +£100k with options are also relatively slow to shift. The used market now due lack of early sales has settled and prices have firmed up. We shall have to wait and see where the F-Type pricing settles too. However Jaguar are intent on launching new and varied models throughout it's lifecycle, all subtly different (improved) which will prob make the early stuff less desirable and continue the usual Jaguar depreciation curve.

I would agree in some ways - to me the F Type seemed overpriced when new.New 911's (991) being pitched at +£100k with options are also relatively slow to shift. However i think it would be unfair to talk about "the usual jaguar depreciation curve", as stuff like the XF and XJ hold on to their values at least as well as their german counterparts, rather than the snow-off-a-ditch depreciation you would have seen on X-Types and S-Types.
