there are 3 sound options

1) standard = no meridian logo on speaker grills
2) 380W Meridian = meridian logo on Speaker grills
3) 1000000000W Meridian Surround Sound = Meridian Surround logo on Speaker grills

I have option 2) It is perfectly fine.

I have 3) in my previous XF S and it was incredible ...

but tbh, 2) is spot on in the F ... I'm sure 3) is better, but probably in a unnecessary way

Hi,

Get the R8 I had a F-Type V8 and previously an R8 V8.... The R8 felt much more special, and handled better.

The noise of the F-Type was fantastic for a while then felt a bit artificial. I also think (IMHO) that the R8 will hold onto it's value longer.

Just my 2p.....

I was looking at those 3 also. GTR wise I set my heart on a 2011 recaro edition however it was difficult (even from dealers) to find well kept ones. R8 at budget I was looking at were all looking a bit tired and dated so not sure what you will get for £40k. I think that is literally the very cheapest leggy ones.
FType ticked a lot of the boxes.
GTR after the other 2 felt cheap inside and a lot less 'classy' to me even though I appreciate its an animal of a car.
Chose the F Type.

Phil.

I had a GTR from new in 2012 for 2 years and traded it for a new V8S. Prior to this there was a 996 Turbo and a couple of remapped and de-catted 4.5 Cebera's. Sold the F-Type last summer and it's the only one I miss. The GTR was just fast (may be too fast for the road) but not as comfortable as the Jag. The V8S has a fantastic sound, very driveable, more than enough power for the road. It seems reliable and easily serviced with a rock solid engine. Only the depreciation was scary. The sound of the exhaust overrun was comparable to the de-catted Cebera. I will buy another V8S (used) when the depreciation curved has slowed. I think the R8 looks too much like the TT and its sound isn't as pleasant as the Jag.

I've had x7 R8's (x1 V8 and x6 V10's)

V8 R8 vs. F-TYPE R = id go for the F-TYPE, miles faster, sounds better, newer, more comfortable

V10 R8 vs. F-TYPE R = i'd go R8 V10 - but its close. I'm loving the R as got bored of the R8's

How do you get through 7 R8's!? I get the move to the v10 but 6 of those! (Just curious as I've never sold a car for the same car)

Thanks guys , I think the R8 has that supercar driving position but interior is looking a bit dated and generic 10 year old Audi get good reviews though ! Nissan GTR most reviews say its hard to live with day to day and low tent interior , Alfa 4C also on my radar and would like to have a go in a Granturismo S , chalk and cheese cars the last 2 but i want a car that feels special for what ever reason :-)

Very good thread guys!

I've started saving for a V8s

Do you guys think that the price for the V8s will get to around £35k by this time next year?

Simple answer, yes, I'm sure you would get one for that. But high mileage. Of course this does depend on your definition of high mileage.

If that's true, it sounds really good to me as I didn't pay much more than that for my very low mileage 13 plate, so I would be very happy if it stuck somewhere above £40 K for the next year or two - I love the car, I would highly recommend picking one up if you have the means.

It tends to end up costing more in maintenance and servicing than depreciation. Early Aston's and Audi R8s have very slow depreciation, but at 5,6,7 years old, more stuff typically needs fixing even if it's just engine mounts and other rubber/perishable bits, brake discs and so on. Some years the bills are light, other years, not so.
