I already knew that a 4.2 supercharged V8 was the right engine to have but now at about a quid a litre it makes even more sense. My XJR is now in the sweet spot with its servicing, bushes, air suspension pump, brakes etc all done and this cheap(er) petrol is the icing on the cake.

It's amazing how you can hustle these cars considering their size, and I notice that even the mid corner tyre howl has a bit of a posh accent wink

No real point to this thread BTW

Always good to see a thread come up just because someone feels good about their car smile.

I too am feeling slightly smug about buying an X308 4.0 a couple of years ago, at current fuel prices (£1.06 round my way) it's a viable option now, after everyone thought I was bonkers for buying it.
Waft with a smile!

I have said a couple of times recently that I can almost afford to run my 4.2 XK8 now! The higher price didn't worry me too much as I love the car but the lower fuel cost is a significant bonus.

I hope this cheap (in relative terms) petrol lasts until the snow and ice we have just now clears off!

The relative cheapness of fuel is great and about time Long may it last
I don't want to spoil the feel good factor but it just seems ripe for a certain Mr Balls to slap a large amount of additional tax as a way of saving the planet if he gets his mits on the treasury in May. We would all be paying a lot more now if he was chancellor and the escalator was in place

Enjoy it while we can

It is nice isn't it! I may get my bushes looked at too. Worth a refresh.
